Hailey 06-037

Profile

6/14/06: This sweet beautiful girl is Hailey. Hailey was adopted in March but due to unforeseen family circumstances which left no time to interact with Hailey, she was surrrendered back to RAGOM.

She is 2 years old and her last vet appointment listed her as 70 lbs but I don't know where the extra 20 lbs are. I think she is very petite.

Hailey greeted my cats and explored the yard and found it to be acceptable for the time being.

She is the perfect house guest. She is quiet when I am on the computer or putzing around the house but is very energetic once we get outside to play fetch. She has an abundance of energy and would like a family that has the time to give her the attention and exercise she needs.

Hailey's original owners did say that Hailey growled at young children. She was not thrilled with my 3 year old neighbor either so I would caution people with small children if you are contemplating meeting Hailey. Hailey will be meeting small children while in my care so this issue will be explored further.

On our first walk this morning Hailey protected me from a big white bear that was standing on the corner looking at us. (I live in White Bear Lake so there are many, many white bears in my neighborhood). She kept looking back after we passed the scarey bear to make sure it wasn't following us.

I don't think Hailey will be with me very long since she is such a well behaved yet energetic 2 year old.

I will write more as I get to know her but if you want a loving companion with a lot of energy, Hailey is your girl.

Little miss Hailey has been with me a month. She has had a busy month. She has become an expert at hauling tree branches, painting, pulling weeds, keeping the yard free from vermin like birds, squirrels and rabbits and entertaining the kids around her yard. She also went on a vacation to Maple Grove to play with her new friend Winston.

Hailey has been entertaining the neighbors with her antics in my sprinklers. Hailey will play in any type of sprinkler. She loves to run through the sprinkler and attack those streams of water. She can't figure out why she can't grab ahold of those streams of water. She has finally figured out how to tip the sprinkler upside down and how to create her own streams of water. Hailey is very creative.

My three-year-old neighbor likes to call Hailey to the fence and give her branches to chew, and Hailey always accommodates her wishes. My other neighbors are 1, 8 and 13, and they love to watch Hailey swim. Hailey will run to the fence and get her pets and then run into her pool. Hailey is more interested in older kids. I think Hailey would like to play with someone who is at least 10 years old. Hailey also watches for the teenagers across the street and will bark until they come over and give her the attention she thinks she deserves.

Even though I was told that Hailey is growly with young kids, I think kids who are respectful and don't pull and grab at her would be fine.

If you would like to have Hailey join your family please e-mail placement. She is an easy dog to have around, she just wants someone to love her and tell her how beautiful she is.

Hailey loves to run through the sprinkler and at times needs to stop and take a drink.

Little miss Hailey is the sweetest soul and has just an easy going personality.

Hailey went to the vet last week for her checkup and weighed in at 56 lbs.

This little 2 year old is so calm in the house that I sometimes forget she is here. She loves attention, wants attention, but will lay down and wait for attention if I am busy.

Loud noises do not seem to bother Hailey. Since Hailey has been here there have been thunderstorms and firecrackers going off and Hailey will look up when there is a loud noise but then continue what she was doing.

The rabbits and my neighbor's cat have been teasing Hailey. They stand just on the other side of the fence and stare at her and the stare down begins. Hailey usually loses because she can't sit still that long.

Hailey spends a lot of her time chasing tennis balls or wrestling with her cloth Frisbee. She will roll around in the grass and throw that Frisbee in the air just being carefree and totally enjoying the nice weather. I love to watch Hailey outside when she thinks I'm not looking. She has a silly side to her and keeps herself entertained.

Last night Hailey helped me cut up some tree branches that fell. I cut them up and she would drag them into the yard and chew them up and come back for more. I had to laugh at her because she tried grabbing a very large branch and it got caught on the steps. She couldn't figure out why she couldn't drag this branch but she pulled and growled until I gave her another branch that she could drag into the yard.

Hailey is so well behaved and sweet. It amazes me how dogs can go through so many scarey changes in their lives and still be so loving and trusting.
