11/13/06: Beemer has been with us for 2 weeks already so I am way behind on getting this lovely girl onto the website. Sorry, but she's worth the wait.

Beemer is a beautiful 8 year old female. She is spayed & up-to-date on all vaccinations. Beemer came from a family that loved her very much. When her owner became sick she was shuffled from house to house while the family was dealing with the illness. During that time Beemer developed some separation anxiety. After the death of her owner it was too stressful for the family to deal with that loss, plus her separation anxiety, so for Beemer's sake she was surrendered to RAGOM.

Beemer is a beautiful, lighter blonde Golden. She has the cutest ears I've ever seen. They are often sticking up or out, like an airplane, rather than the typical floppy ears of the Golden. Beemer is housetrained, has some allergy issues, but does well as long as she doesn't eat beef. She gets along with our 3 Goldens, although she'd rather be next to me than play with them. She also gets along with cats. She loves to play tug, fetch & usually has a stuffed toy in her mouth. She also knows how to open the refrigerator & freezer doors & has a penchant for ice cream! She could stand to loose a few pounds (she currently weighs in at 71 pounds).

As far as her separation anxiety goes, it hasn't been an issue for us. She has free roam of the house when we are home. When we are gone she has been staying on our 3 season porch with the other dogs & seems to do fine with that. She always greets me at the door with a stuffed animal, or whatever she can find, in her mouth. We have gradually increased the time without us, up to 6 hours so far, with no problems. Apparently she has hurt herself when in the crate before, so we haven't tried that.

Beemer walks nicely on the leash. She also LOVES water & will spend hours fishing, but usually just comes up with rocks, if you let her.

If you are an approved family, please email placement and let them know that you are interested in this cutie. She'll be an instant family member and she's cute to boot!

It is with great sadness that we advise that our "Big Red Dog" Beemer has passed on. She passed through the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday June 5th in the early morning at our veterinarian's office.

Although she was a senior when we adopted her, she brought great love, joy, & silliness to our lives! It took her a very long time to come completely out of her shell, but when she did, she went from being the "newbie" to being the "Queen". She loved to lay in the shade amongst the pine trees, "watch" over her family from atop the retaining wall garden, and mostly loved to venture around our 10 acres and play in the pond. She was our "high Beems" (happy dog) "low Beems" (sad dog) and mostly, our Beems of sunshine.

She will be missed tremendously.

Beemer was adopted tonight by the K family. Beemer now has a Mom and a Dad that will dote on her as well as a home with 10 acres to stretch her legs on. She will have the company of 2 other dogs, cats, horses, and a bird. We are so happy for Beemer! Happy tails!!

We want to say thank you to Wing Foot Farms for sponsoing Beemer! Wow! Your generosity is very much appreciated. A big "WOOF" to you from her!

Beemer has arrived in wet and sunny Burnsville! She is back in foster care because of her separation anxiety (S.A.). Her adoptive family did not have another dog to keep her company during the day. Beemer has been with us for two days now and so far the S.A. has not surfaced. On Sunday we were gone from our house for 6 hours and Monday we were gone for 9 hours. Beemer is doing very well. This is most likely because Beemer has two foster sisters and a cat to keep her company. This dog LOVES children. We had two boys over this weekend ages 10 and 5 and Beemer was clearly in her element with them. She followed them around and even slept by their beds all night. You should see how she lights up around them! Our house was very busy this weekend and Beemer was not shy or timid as one might think a dog in new surroundings would be. She is well balanced, confident, and appears to be in excellent health aside from having a couple of extra pounds on her frame. Beemer is food motivated (hence the extra pounds) and knows simple commands like "sit" and "down". We will test her knowledge further to see what else she can do! Beemer does pull on the leash during walks but we will work on that with a gentle leader. There are just so many new and exciting thigs around!
