Breaker 06-133

Profile

4/4/06: Say hello to Breaker. Breaker just turned six years old and was surrendered due to some very sad events in his family. Though it was extremely hard, they decided that the best thing for Breaker was a home where he would be provided with the attention and activity that he needs.

Breaker is house trained and crate trained and has been to beginner obedience class. He loves people attention and having his belly rubbed. He has allergies to grass and is on an antihistamine for that. Breaker loves to play tug of war and will do so with you until you tire of it! Some of the commands that Breaker knows are: sit, lay down, stay, up, no, come, kennel, treat, and many others. He does pull a bit when on a leash so maybe a refresher course is in order for him!

That being said, Breaker does have some issues that people need to be aware of. He does not like being groomed and the previous owners suggest that he be taken in for a grooming and not to try it yourself. Breaker also does not like to have his legs touched. He has never done anything to a person except give them ?the look?, which if respected should not lead to anything more serious. Because of his sensitivity to having his legs touched, for everyone's safety I want to see Breaker go to a family that does not have children. Breaker?s new family should also be willing to work with him to help him be more comfortable with having his legs touched.

More as we get to know each other better!

Breaker had his day at the spa today! He is such a handsome boy and everyone loved him! I heard lots of people there say they would love to adopt him if they didn’t already have a house full of pets. Now if we can actually find that perfect family who does have room for Breaker. Since we were told that Breaker doesn’t always like a bath, I asked his groomer to let me know how his grooming went. She did discover that he did not like his front legs and paws touched but she said he wasn’t the first dog that didn’t like that. He definitely did not like his rear end messed with and did growl a bit when being toweled off. But no one was hurt and he is now a handsome guy! Check out his pictures!

I have discovered that Breaker does not know what a tennis ball is. Now that it is nice out and the back yard is not all mud, I have been playing fetch just about every night with my two goldens. Breaker does not seem at all interested in the tennis balls and just hangs out with me on the porch. When I throw the ball, he just watches my youngest dog act like a nut trying to catch it. Hopefully one of these days, Breaker will give chase too.

Though Breaker does not know fetch, he loves to be petted and have belly rubs! He is a typical golden who will nudge you arm to let you know it should be being used to pet him. If that doesn’t get your attention, he will sit on your feet until he gets his pets or belly rub!
