Profile

New kid on the block, Prince, is a 7 week old Golden/Lab mix, who came in to RAGOM with his sister, Zoe 04-363, and oh, what a sweetie he is.

This guy has had a rough start to life, suffering from poor nutrition and lack of exercise. At this time, he is just a bit too young, so will need to remain in foster care for a few more weeks until he is fattened up and fit for adoption.

Prince is here and doing well. He has adjusted to our home nicely. We are working on potty training. We are learning his signals and the accidents are getting fewer and fewer. He is such a smart dog, he learned the command "go potty" for when we are outside. He sleeps well in the crate and cries when he needs to go out. He is very mellow and loves to play with our lab about as much as he likes to snuggle into you. Here are a few more pictures. He is a real Gem. Prince arrived in Alexandria. It was decided to split up Prince and his sister and provide them with more individualized attention. According to the dictionary, Prince means "to be of a noble and kind nature". How true that is for this guy! We picked him up in St. Cloud and he rode well all the way home. He is a true youngster. He met our Lab Hanna and they get along very well, though he does miss his sister. Before he came to us, he went to the vet this morning and got a clean bill of health and a rabies shot. More on this little guy as we get to know him.

Prince is now 9 weeks old and doing great. He is a very happy go lucky puppy - loves to be with people and held. He was to the vet again a couple days ago for a second worming and weighed in at 14lbs. That is a 3 pound gain in 2 weeks, so we are on the road to getting this guy's health back on track. He and his sister Zoe are somewhat inseparable and very wiggly, so it is hard to get good pics of them, especially individual ones :)

Both pups are in the very early stages of potty training, still needing to potty every half hour or more, and very much into puppy playtime - lots of biting, chewing, romping, wrestling and just general doggy fun, with the occasional snuggle and cuddle thrown in when they are sleepy. They love having our one year old Golden to play with. Our family has a 2 1/2 year old, as well as an 11 and 13 yr. old, our resident Golden, 4 cats and lots of neighborhood kids that want puppy kisses, so they get lots of varied socialization. They are being kenneled at bedtime and when we leave the house, and are getting daily walks on their leashes - not an easy task with the two of them as well as our dog :)

Both pups will go back to the vet in about 10 days, and will hopefully get the final ok and be ready for adoption! I will let you know the minute these 2 sweeties are ready to meet their forever families.

Prince has been to the vet and had his first set of shots, he weighed 11 lbs., 2oz. He is starting to come out of his shell a bit, but is still a little shy when it comes to new situations.. If he feels frightened he runs to the nearest person to be picked up and comforted, resting his head on your shoulder. He is a snuggle bug, just relaxes right into you when you hold him. He and his sister Zoe absolutely LOVE to romp around outside. They run and play until their legs are shaking from exhaustion. He is also feeling much better now that he has been wormed! Lots more energy, and not such a sad sack look on his face all the time :)
