Hi Everyone, it's me Winston!! Boy, I had a fun weekend! I got to go up north with my foster family! The best part was swimming!! Foster grandma and grandpa have a great lake in their front yard!! I loved the water--I think it was the first time for me swimming in a lake. It felt great on my hip--I was a natural swimmer! My foster mom has added two pictures from the weekend. The first one is me "fishing"! I am not really fishing, but when my mom threw a rock in the water for me to fetch, I naturally thought I was supposed to get it! So, I put my whole face in the water! How else was I supposed to get it??? Everyone was having quite the laugh! The other picture is me pooped out--everyone else was laying around sun tanning, so I figured it was my turn for a nap in the lounge chair. It was sooo much fun--I hope I get to go up there again.

As for my hip, I think it's doing pretty good. I go back for a re-check in a couple weeks. At that time, the doctor will re-evaluate the other hip and see if I need surgery on that one, too. If so, I'll be recuperating here for awhile longer--unless, of course, my new forever family would like to help me recuperate. I'm still cute as ever, have the softest fur around and I'm totally sweet. Bye for now.

P.S. If you're at all interested in me joining your family, you'd better email placementatragom [dot] org because I think my foster family is very close to wanting to adopt me!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Winston is doing much better than that first day!! The new picture shows that the swelling has diminished and he's walking very well on it! I'm impressed!

Winston is home from the U of M and doing okay. As the pictures note, it is not a pretty sight. But, the doctor assured me he will heal fast and be feeling much better very soon. For now, I need to keep him quiet and help him go up/down any stairs. Keeping him quiet won't be hard--he naturally has a quiet disposition, so I just need to make sure he doesn't attempt to jump on the bed or couch. They showed me how to wrap a blanket around his tummy to help him up and down the few steps we have in the house. I also borrowed some rugs (thank you Jennifer L.) to put on the ceramic floors so he doesn't slip and slide. He will have the suctures removed in 2 weeks and in 6 weeks he will have the other hip evaluated.

Winston is a 14 week old male that RAGOM rescued from a breeder who was getting rid of his stock because he couldn't afford to heat the building they were in. Winston and his sister Zuzu arrived on late Friday night, scared and dirty. They promptly got a much needed bath and were sent to bed.

Winston is up to date on shots and has an appointment for a vet check on Monday. He gets along well with resident dogs, cats, and people. He was a little shy at first, but is gradually coming out of his shell. He hasn't ever slept in a house before and is adjusting well. He is working on housetraining and only has accidents when we are away for long periods of time. Other than that, he holds it well until we can get him outside.

Winston must have never eaten out of a dog bowl in his previous life because he seemed scared of it at first. He still prefers to eat and drink off a shallow plate instead. When we got him, he was very thin. But two days in our house, he is starting to put on weight like the rest of us.

After all he has been through in his short little life, he is still a wonderful, loving and cuddly puppy. He would make a great addition to your home.

We will write more after the vet appointment.
