Roy has been bounced around a bit in the last few days. His first foster mom moved into an apartment and was no longer able to keep him. Another RAGOM volunteer picked him up and kept him overnight. Then we picked him up last night. He hasnât seemed to mind all the moving about and is a very happy dog.
Royâs history is unclear. Somehow he ended up at a Humane Society and was then turned over to RAGOM. There is no mention of his previous owner or his previous living conditions. However, he doesnât seem to have any insecurities or be afraid of anything. He has obviously been well fed and should lose 10-15 pounds (heâs still very handsome!).
Roy visited the vet the first part of August and is up to date on all his shots and he is neutered. We arenât sure if heâs been on any heartworm preventative so weâll visit the vet again next week to double check that.
Roy still has a very thick dark red coat even though heâs had many haircuts. His forever home will need to continue to brush him several times a week as his hair grows out. If his ears are any indication of what the rest of him will look like, I think heâll have a very nice curly coat in a few months.
Roy gets along great with our resident Golden. Theyâve been getting lots of exercise playing and wrestling. If they keep this up, Roy will be thin and in shape in no time. He also likes kids of all ages. He does jump up a little, but this can be easily fixed with some obedience training. He also pulls on a regular leash, so weâll try the Gentle Leader in the next few days.
Overall, Roy is a great dog. Heâs a very gentle, loving, playful guy. He really likes to be around people and would love to find a forever home soon. Please contact Placement
ragom [dot] org if you would like to meet Roy.
