11/22/05: Hi! It?s me Snickers!! Boy, was that a lonnnngggg car ride! I just got to Maple Grove all the way from Rapid City, South Dakota. Some really nice people (they call themselves RAGOM Transport Volunteers) picked me up and drove me here! I don?t remember why I was surrendered to the Animal Humane Society, but it?s probably better I don?t remember. Now, I?m with my new foster family. I?m trying my hardest to fit in, but the resident dog, Bogie, sure can be grouchy. I just really want to play, but foster mom keeps calling him an old grouch. Every once in awhile he?ll chase me around the yard and we both like to play with the stuffed budda babies. Sometimes he?ll drop his favorite one and I?ll run up and grab it?..then he really gives me the dirty look!

It sure is busy around here and I love it!! Foster mom has two teenagers that she tries really hard to keep up with and they have lots of friends over. Of course, I love that, because it means lots of attention for me! I love kids! They rub my ears just right and they know how to do some serious snuggling in front of the TV! My foster mom has been letting me sleep on the bed with her?she says I?m a great sleeper and I stay on my side of the bed. I really can?t figure out why the resident dog prefers to sleep in the bathroom?he?s a strange one.

I?ve been chowing down here, too! The vet says I?m only 45 lbs, so I could gain a few pounds. Other than that, I?m the picture of health. I might add that everyone that comes to visit comments on how handsome I am, thank you very much. I?m looking forward to being with all the family this Thanksgiving!! More people to play with and 2 more dogs are coming! Yeah!

Hello, I thought I’d give you a quick update on how Snickers is doing. As you read from his personal point of view, he’s doing great! I added another picture of him with my daughter. Yes, he sometimes thinks he’s lap dog! He loves to snuggle.

Thanksgiving was busy—5 dogs and 12 humans! Snickers really loved everyone and all the dogs accepted him! Even the resident dog, Bogie, is doing much better with him! They actually play together by rolling around and chasing each other. I can tell Snickers is happy that Bogie is finally playing with him!

He’s been eating quite a bit. At a mere 45 lbs, I think a few more pounds would look great on him! I don’t think he’ll ever be a big Golden. At 17 months old, he looks like a classic field Golden—petite, dark red fur and a gorgeous face. Did I mention before that he is completely potty-trained (no accidents in my house) and even knows a few commands!

I took him for a walk yesterday. I wanted to see how he’d do if I started running with him. He did great! He stayed a few steps ahead of me and didn’t pull at all! He’d make a great running partner. I think that regular exercise would be great for him—he’s not a hyper dog, but definitely has energy to burn.

Next week I’ll let Snickers get on the computer and update you…… I know he’s getting anxious about finding his forever home before Christmas!
