Misty has been here for a week now and has settled in very easily. Misty has a vet appointment scheduled to have a check up, be spayed, and tested for heartworm - then she'll be ready to be adopted. She is so easy to have around, loves to get petted but isn't over demanding.

Misty is quite crazy about playing ball. It's a great outlet for her energy - she brings it back and throws it down in front of you. We are working on putting it into my hand. If you do not pick up the ball and throw it for her right away she will bark at you - we are also working on her not barking for me to throw the ball. Usually I just have to tell her "No bark" and she'll quit barking, but will continue to talk to you until you throw the ball. When I get tired of throwing the ball I put it up and she will go and do something else to occupy her time.

Misty also loves the swimming pool and lays in it quite often to cool off in this warm weather. She even brings her ball in so that can get cooled off too!!! We've been up to the lake several times in this hot weather and she swims like a champ! Misty even jumped off the dock, but it surprised her a little when her head went under water. It should be easy to teach her to jump off the dock though - just throw the ball !!!

Misty does not know how to play with other dogs, much to 05-127 Oakley's dismay. Oakley wants so much to play with her but she has not responded yet. I did notice yesterday though, the Misty was teasing Oakley with a new squeaky toy, just keeping it out of his reach, so maybe she will learn how to play with her foster brother yet!

All in all, this little Misty girl is a very sweet Golden. She has had a very good start on her training and has a sweet temperment. The reason she was given up is because she was not a good hunting dog; you see, she has some fear of storms and loud noises (like gun fire). I have only observed her in one storm - we were outside and she ran and jumped into the van. I tried to get her to come out, but could only get her out by pulling her. Once she was out she was OK, and we went into the house and she was fine. We will continue to watch her to see how severe her storm anxiety is.
