5/25/06: Buddy was recently surrendered to RAGOM as his owner, who had taken him in from a friend, felt he did not have the time needed to properly care for and train him. Buddy is a one year old bundle of energy. He has a very pleasant, but determined, personality. He is a mischief maker and LOVES to chew. He does some resource guarding and thus far is not into trading. He has tolerated having his food taken away and/or having my hands in his dish. It is clear he has heard "no" and "down" before. Buddy responds fairly well to his name, knows "sit", however "stay" and "down" are a mystery to him. Appears to have had little leash work, am trying a Gentle Leader. He and the resident boy became fast friends and play so well together. Buddy has a good sense of the "rules of play". Apparently has had some exposure to cats. Is house trained and did well the day I was unexpectedly gone for 10 hours. While in the previous home he slept on a bed; I found he prowls during the night, even if it is only in the room he is confined to, and then he would try and get the resident boy to play. No one was getting much sleep, so I started kenneling him. While he did not like it the first few days it was very clear he has been kenneled before; now he generally responds to "kennel up". Buddy generally respects baby gates. House does need to be "puppy proof" at this time. Loves to ride in the car.
Buddy is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. He is a large dog, however very lean; is dark red in color. Buddy has this gorgeous baby face and this majestic body. Will try and send a photo soon. Buddy has his vet appt tomorrow and will be brought UTD, is already neutered.
