Charlie Brown 06-264

Profile

6/14/06: Charlie is a beautiful 1.5 year old neutered male. He is friendly, playful and loves kids, but he often knocks down small ones because he is about 85 pounds. No aggression, loves to chase balls, and has been raised at a home day care with kids whose ages range from infant to teen. Charlie was originally bought for breeding but had an undescended testicle so he was neutered. He gets along with female and male dogs but has never met a cat. He has AKC papers but was never actually registered. He is kennel trained and knows "stay" although has not been to obedience training. He very seldom barks- only when he wants to go outside. He loves to swim at the lake. He does tend to pull on his leash so he needs some work on that. He is housetrained and used to a fenced yard. Charlie has been well cared for and loved, but his family made the difficult decision to give him up because they could not give him the time that he deserves.

Nothing much new to report on Charlie Brown. He continues to enjoy playing tug-of-war with our resident Golden. He loves to retrieve anything you can find to throw for him.

He is easy to groom. We have bathed him and clipped his nails without any problems. He likes to be close to either Liz or myself and will go back and forth looking to see what we are up to, etc. He likes to go upstairs and lie on a bed that is close to a window so he can look out and watch what is going on outside. He has free run of the house and has never had any accidents.

He has a very nice temperament and loves all the attention he can get. He is a great watch dog also. He enjoys going for walks in the park. Charlie Brown will make some lucky, forever family very happy indeed.

Charlie went to the vet yesterday for a wellness check and is in perfect condition. He weighed 87 pounds. We also took a fecal sample which was negative. While at the vet Charlie had a RAGOM microchip implanted. Charlie seemed to really enjoy his trip to the vet. Our resident Golden, Hank, rode along to keep him company. We will continue to monitor his weight even though our vet thought his weight was okay.

Charlie loves to go for walks along the bike path which sort of winds around the Red River of the North. He and our resident Golden love to romp around in the back yard. Playing tug-of-war with various toys seems to be one of their favorite pastimes. They both seem to enjoy jumping over the obedience bar jump which is set up in our back yard. Charlie enjoys retrieving about anything you would like to throw for him, brings it right back to you and then gets ready to go and get the next retrieve. He doesn't seem to ever get tired of retrieving. He is a good walker, doesn't pull on the lead and will normally walk right by your side. He is curious about everything along the walk, especially the wildlife. We had a deer cross our path within about 15 feet which really caught his attention and there are many rabbits and squirrels for him to observe. I don't think he had been walked much in the past but appears to have had some obedience training. When I take his picture I can put him on a sit stay while I take the picture and he doesn't move. Charlie is a great Golden Retriever and is going to make some forever family very happy indeed.

Charlie has free run of our home and gets along well with our resident Golden, Hank. I have been taking him for daily walks of about 2 miles. He walks very nicely on a 6 foot leather lead, right by my side. Some loud noises do startle him but he settles down quickly. He has never had an accident in the house and does know several basic commands. He has not chewed on anything in appropriately. He does best with hard rubber toys such as Kongs. He will tear apart soft toys. He loves attention, and being petted. He is a good watch dog and will bark at strange noises or someone coming to the door. He enjoys romping around the back yard with Hank.
