Lady Britt is back!!! After living with an active family for the past 2 years, she has come back to RAGOM, due to no problems, whatsoever, with her. She has been with me for only a few days, and is such a sweet natured, laid back lady. She loves to eat, groans with pleasure while being brushed, and sleeps wherever her "rug" is. I gave her the run of the house with my two resident Goldens today, and she proved to be totally trustworthy. Our first walk, between rain showers, was slow and uneventful, respecting the leash.Lady does have storm anxiety. She gets nervous and pants, but once she finds her safe place, she quietly waits out the storm.I was able to observe Lady with her family that included four-year-old twins, and can say she is GREAT with children. Will keep you updated on this special Lady.
(Below is Lady Britt's original bio from when she first came into RAGOM):
5/29/05: Lady Britt arrived at her foster home last Friday after a 3 1/2 hour drive from a farm in Britt, Iowa. She is a small girl, approximately 3 years old, and appears to be a purebred Golden. She has had puppies recently and was at the farm in Britt for about two weeks before I picked her up. We suspect that she was dumped in the country to fend for herself after her puppies were weaned. Her good Samaritan took her to the vet and had her updated on her shots for us. She still needs to be spayed and tested for heartworms. I will get that scheduled soon with my vet.
Lady is getting along fine with my resident dogs. She is a very laid back girl and a joy to foster. I haven't discovered any bad habits yet. She is house trained and seems very comfortable in our home. We haven't gotten her to play ball yet, but we can tell that she wants to. She just needs a little more time to trust us completely. We were told that she weighs 72 pounds, but I would have guessed her to be maybe 65 pounds at the most. I will have her weighed when I take her to my vet.
