Patrick (Patton 04-314)

Profile

Check out this face!!!! Patton is in Balsam Lake. He is from a breeding kennel and after eight years went sterile, so was no longer needed. The owner gave him to RAGOM so he could start his life as a wonderful spoiled house puppy. Better late than never. This guy has so much personality and character, it's hard to know where to start. He is outgoing, lovable, well behaved and just a hoot. He is a bit dog aggressive, with some growling and barking at the gang that helps me out here; Hank(our dog), Brandy 04-239, & Jasper 04-313. But with a sharp "no" then good boy, he quits. Tomorrow I will introduce him to everyone (on leash) and we'll see how it goes. He really wants to please me, so I don't think it will take much. He is in our RAGOM ROOM right now and he has been totally clean. His eyes got so big when he saw toys, he just didn't know where to start! It's hard to get a picture because he likes to be up front and personal! I only got this one today because my camera got goofed up, so we'll add some more soon! He knows how to sit and shake and gives great hugs!!! And kisses!!! Who could possibly want more??? Barb (with RAGOM transport) and her 3 children brought Patton to us on Saturday and he nicely shared lunch with the kids! I want to keep him this week and work with him to see if he has any faults, but you'd better get your name on the list soon, because this guy is a gem!

My name is Chuck and I adopted "Patrick" (I changed his name the day I adopted him) back in Nov. 2004 when I lived in White Bear Lake, MN. A year later Patrick and I moved to Anchorage where he spent his remaining years. He was diagnosed with malenoma 14 months ago and last Friday was his final day. The cancer had spread to his lymphnoid glands and had become terminal. He died resting his head in my lap. Though it was sad, there is reason to be happy. Patrick was given a gifted life for a Golden. He became a regular at my work, a pediatric orthopedics clinic where he had free fun of the facility as well as my home. Patrick camped at the base of Denali, spent weekends with me up above the Arctic Circle, and went to the start of the Iditarod 3 years in a row. Also, he and I fished the many wilderness rivers and streams for salmon, camped along the Spit in Homer and explored all over the Kenai Penninsula. He shared our home yard with moose and bears. He was always by my side 7/24, a true friend and companion. I miss him dearly and have had a hard time coming home to an empty house. I thank you for the opportunity I had with him and encourage others to adopt the older dogs.

Patrick's last day.

These pictures say it all about Patton. He is loving, adoring and just has to be close to you! Not to mention he is a totally handsome, hunky man!!! I had to have help to take pictures of him, because all I was getting were nose pictures!!! He loves to hug and snuggle and he stares deeply into your eyes!

He was more talk (growl) than anything else! Now that his neutering is taking effect, he doesn't have to be that macho guy anymore. He runs around the kennel with the other dogs and does just fine! My German Shepherd Freida and he play, they are so cute! He is respectful of Brandy, since she is an old girl and either ignores the other dogs or a sniff and then off for something more interesting. He and Jasper 04-313 aren't the best of friends, but I'm sure they have some history coming from the same kennel and being the"stud" dogs there. No fights, just not buds.

Patton wants so much to please that I think he would do anything to have your love and approval. He is a very smart dog, very outgoing, and the only time that he has submissive urinated was with 2 men - he was trying so hard to please them. What a guy! As Patton finds out no one will hurt him and he can just be himself, that will end.

He really is a wonderful dog that is now ready to be in a home giving and getting all the love that he deserves!
