Here are some great shots of Jazzie and her new friend Bernie!

Just look at this picture, how happy Jazzie is that her adoption day is here!!! There are also a couple other new shots. One is Jazzie on a play date and another one shows how shiny her coat is becoming!
We need to wait to make the adoption official, until after her vetting is complete. Today she goes in for her spay. Last week, we had to do an emergency appointment, because she is still infected pretty bad 'down there'. She got some new medicine as well, and hopefully the spay will take care of the rest. We had to take an x-ray to rule out Pyometra, and in the process, we got a pretty disturbing shot of Jazzie's hips. Jazzie so far has been diagnosed with 'severe' hip dysplasia. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the worst, the Drs. at White Bear Clinic have rated her an 8 (poor). Only 20% of her ball is in the joint. This makes us very sad. Today they will do a full round of x-rays while she is out for the spay, and we will have a much more informed view from all angles, and we'll see what they say. For now we're taking it one step at a time. Surgery has been mentioned, but we won't know for sure until after today's shots.
She has also been diagnosed with Degenerative Joint Disease, specifically on her spine. She had three joints on her spinal cord that showed up on the x-ray too, and they look like the kind of joints a senior dog would have. We plan to discuss this with the vet more after all is said and done.
We'll check back in after our spay. Happy Adoption Day!!!
10:25 AM Jazzie By The Minute Update
Just got a call from Dr. Dalton. Apparently, when they had Jazzie 'out' and she was all relaxed, they found a spay scar! Or what he said certainly appears to be one!!!! We are so excited! He was going to do the x-rays and call me back later for the hip diagnosis, so we will check back in after that!!

Here are some new photos of Miss Jazzie Bear. She's a honey and we adore her.

Not much new to report, except we anxiously await our next 'thunder storm'. Today's mild 'rain shower' didn't phase our girl. I have Hug Therapy (t-shirt wrap), Rescue Remedy, and Shelter Blend Remedy (donated spray mist from the hurricane shelter brought back by a RAGOM Angel) on hold for our next storm adventure. We'll check back in when we have fresh news. We're hoping the 'calm before the storm' stays around for a long, long time now. Until then, here are a couple shots we took tonight. As you can see, she seems to be getting cuter as time passes. What a doll, huh? She now knows her name, and is using the step I built to boost her short self up on the bed. Night-time snuggles are worth the climb. She likes her little bald pink belly scratched.

Sweet little Jazz has arrived into foster care today, after being rescued from the Katrina aftermath. I don't know much about her specific rescue, but I do know that we are hopeful that we can find her owners. Here is what I know about her so far:
She was not tagged at all but we have her collar and leash, however we don't know whether or not this was the one she wore in her home. I have included pictures of it for ID purposes. Her Emergency Animal Intake form is dated 9/11/05 and it shows she was found on Strangi Avenue in Biloxi, MS. However, this form also says that the dog was a 6+ month old Yellow Lab, so I don't know if this form got mixed up somehow, or if it's even hers, but I still wanted to reference the area.
She has been fully vetted and checked over and is HW negative and flea free. She had some mats shaved out of her fur, and her tail is a bit patchy, but it will grow in. She is updated on all her shots, and has been treated for ear infections. She cocks her head to the right still, and we think this might also be because of the ears. She also had one eye that was draining a bit, but it seems to be improving too.
The main thing to mention about her for ID purposes is that she is a short Golden. You can see from the pictures, she is much shorter than most Goldens. Her coat is the reddish color and she has a very sweet face. She is very friendly, and has been loved and well cared for and socialized. She warmed right up to my Sadie and they have been playing all afternoon. Also to mention here for ID purposes is that she does like to bark to get your attention. She appears to be quite vocal so far.
I have included more pictures than usual so hopefully, somebody will recognize her and we can get this sweet girl back to her family. I'm sure they miss her as much as she misses them!
