Odin 04-375

Profile

Odin is at his new foster home with me now. He is 7 yrs old and weighs about 70 lbs. and is a nice golden color. I would say he's about an average sized Golden Retriever. He seems to have quite a bit of energy for a 7 yr old pooch. So far he has gotten along with my Golden (also 7 but much less energy) and at times he gets along with my cats and at times he'll chase them all through the house. My Siamese will stand up to him and paw his nose and he backs up with a surprised look, but leaves her alone.

I will introduce him to the rest of the clan this weekend, but I don't expect any trouble. I tried gating him into the laundry area the first day he was alone all day, but he didn't like that and was out when I got home. No damage done though. He sleeps by my bed at night. He likes to play with his toys and rawhides. He carries them all over the house. He seems pretty happy and easy going.

It is with very sad hearts that we let you know that our beautiful Odin who came into our lives as a foster on Christmas Day 2004 and became a permanent member of our family shortly thereafter, lost his battle with cancer on June 30. He would have been 14 in September.

He was our fourth Golden, and our third RAGOM dog and with each one we wondered how we could possibly love another dog as much as the one we had. But we did and he was the love of our life. I think someone from RAGOM wrote me one time that you can't love a dog more, you just want to love them longer. He really did give us the gift of a long time to love him.

Thank you again for giving us the chance to love a senior golden - he will be greatly missed.

This puppy is so worth getting to know. He has no medical problems other than the usual age-related arthritis, but he does fine and enjoys those 1-2 mile walks. He is quite a charmer and we are more smitten with him everyday.

Odin continues to be a great houseguest. He's just a sweet pup longing to spend his day keeping someone special in sight.

Odin has relocated to the Metro Area and has settled in very nicely in our foster home due to an illness in his first foster family. What a sweetie he is! We have given him free reign in our house and he does fine, although we have been home most of the time. He has enjoyed the walks (he's great with the Gentle Leader) around our neighborhood and has a definite desire to head for the path through the woods - what a nose he has! He showed us where the pesky bunny has made its home in our yard and makes a beeline for it as soon as he's out the door. Now he comes in when we call "treat" or by shaking some food in his dish rather than our having to go out and coax him in. He can be playful but not overbearing and for the most part has just been content to be near us. Did I mention he doesn't "beg" from the table? Odin will make a wonderful addition to a family who will be around most of his day.
