Elway 06-010

Profile

1/7/06: Everyone give Elway (Scoots to me) a great big hand - he made it from Iowa to Apple Valley, MN! This wonderful little boy did great ? he is currently 8 weeks old, 7 or 8 pounds at the most and will head to the vet tomorrow for a quick check and shots.

Have you ever seen Star Wars? Well I am here to say this little boy (which I was told was a girl and called him Elise for the first 12 hours. Then hubby said ? excuse me ? we have a male here! So once again, I can not tell the difference in sexes) looks just like a baby Ewok. He has the most precious little face; you just want to cuddle him. Scoots Elway had a mother that was a Flat-Coated/Golden Retriever mix and dad was a Golden Retriever. If you have never heard of a Flat-Coated Retriever, take a look at some of these pictures from the Flat-Coated Retriever Society of America http://www.fcrsainc.org/photogallery/.

I will be writing more in the next couple of days on our wonderful little Scoots Elway, but I wanted to welcome him to the neighborhood and get his picture out here just in case someone would like to see him, since he won?t be around long. Send a note to Placementatragom [dot] org and let's get together.

Elway just got back from his check-up and he is officially Parvo Negative and ready to find his forever home. Elway now weighs in at 7 pounds and has a little cold that they are treating. On January 25th, he will go in for his shots and he will be ready to go. So he would love to start meeting prospective new parents.

Elway is looking for someone who will have time for him and love him. He will let you know when he wants attention so it is very important that you are the kind of person to exercise him and teach him all the things a dog should know.

Please contact placementatragom [dot] org if you want to be one of the lucky people Elway meets.

Elway – what can I say about this guy – he never did go to the hospital – he was just feeling so well I could not make him go to yet another strange place. So instead he invited his brother Newton and sister Ebony to come and stay with him. Because they were not feeling the greatest, Elway was told he had to stay away because he just wanted to play and play and play.

We have come to this huge conclusion that this cannot be Parvo – it had to be some bug and the positive Parvo reading was from the puppy shot - we are trying to get a real yea or nay that this is possible.

Elway is just over 5 pounds of spit fire – he is always in one of the Newfs' face ready to play and be loved. This only lasts about 20 minutes and then it is nap time for him. Elway is starting to get the idea that when we leave he has to go in the crate and hates it, but then again all dogs do until they understand it is best for them. When I have Elway in the play pen with Ebony and Newton he goes in the crate to sleep on his own, so I know he does not hate it.

This wonderful little boy will not last long once things get worked out, so if you are at all interested in him when he becomes available (next week I would think) please contact placementatragom [dot] org.
