12/26/05: Wolfie has joined our family just in time for the holidays. He was surrendered last week from Northern Minnesota with his buddy Willie 05-399. Unfortunately, they were not able to be fostered together but both are adjusting well to the separation. Wolfie lived as an outdoor dog and his former owners were no longer able to care for these boys so decided to give them the good life by surrendering them to RAGOM.
Wolfie, short for Wolfgang, is a 10 year old, darker red, 68 lb. male Golden Retriever. He is UTD & was neutered this past week. He had a reaction to the anesthesia & did quite a bit of throwing up but is now recovering nicely. He will be getting his stitches out next week. He is making the adjustment to living indoors. He did some initial marking in the house before the neuter but none since. He also had a few poop accidents the first few days but is getting past that also. He gets along nicely with our 3 Goldens, 2 females & a male.
I can't believe Wolfie is 10 years old. He has hardly any gray on his face & he is very playful. He LOVES tennis balls, just to carry them around, but definitely does NOT like to give them back. He even found a few balls that were buried in the snow. We went to Petco the other day & he was friendly with all the other people & dogs that he met. He picked out a stuffed squeaky bone right away & carried it throughout the store. It lasted about 3 days before it was destuffed & now he just carries around the empty fabric.
Wolfie has never had any exposure to cats but has ignored our rabbit in its cage. He gets along great with our 3 children, the youngest being 3. I think he would enjoy living with another dog but would also do well alone. Wolfie has the most expressive face & ears that I have ever seen on a dog. He has this funny smile where he wrinkles up his nose & shows his teeth. And then he sticks his ears out, almost like a puppet...it is soooo CUTE!!
Wolfie would make a great addition to any family. Add a little water, dash of food & lots of love. If you are interested in meeting this funny guy, contact placement
RAGOM [dot] org. He would love to join your family & make 2006 the best year ever!!
