10/17/05: Larry has made it up to Minnesota. He came to RAGOM from a shelter in Iowa. Larry spent a few days with Jill & Chad down in Iowa before he & I made the long journey north. He was a champ all the way. We even stopped to pick up another Golden who is 12 years old and blind. Larry was great with Sammy. They both slept most of the way. We dropped off Sammy in Owatonna and Larry took a potty break and we were on the road again. We arrived home around 9pm and Larry headed straight for the couch and laid down. He has made this his home.
Larry is now up to date with his shots and he will be getting neutered in 2 weeks. He is one sweet dog. The vet in Iowa says that he is between 1-2 years. I would say that he is closer to 1.
He is very playful and loves to chase a ball, but yet he is very, very mellow. Larry also loves to carry stuffed animals around, and will sometimes round all of his toys up and place them all in the living room where he can see them. Larry has a big blocky head and huge feet. I think that he needs to grow into both his head and feet. He is a very nice looking dog.
He ignores the cats. He is such a gentle boy, I could see him becoming best buddies with the 2 cats here. He loves everyone and so far everyone loves Larry. Hey, maybe he can get his own TV show now that Everybody Loves Raymond is off the air.
Larry has beautiful white teeth and takes treats very gently. He is a very neat drinker, never slobbers water on the floor like all the other Goldens that I have had. But when it comes to his food, what a SLOB!!!!!! He takes a mouthful and drops about half of it on the floor. But he always cleans it all up. This is the perfect dog. He just might have to stay at my house.
