Sandy arrived at my house today. She was greeted by my son, who is 10 and the "gang" (a male and female Golden). After the usual sniffs, we went inside the house and she was able to meet one of the cats. So far, everything is going well with the zoo and her previous owners say that she gets along with cats (see pics below).

Sandy was turned back in today mainly for being destructive during storms and possibly killing a neighbor's chicken. The previous owners reported that when left home during storms and she is in a kennel, she will chew to free herself. When they left her alone during a storm outside the kennel she was destructive. She is also afraid of gunshots and fireworks, so hunting will be out of the question. For the next few days, I won't know how she is alone because someone is always home here until school starts. Sandy is estimated to be 5 years old (in 2001 it looks like she was found as a stray). The birthdate on her paper work says 1/12/00, but I'm not sure if that is correct. She is light golden with a little grey starting to show on her face. She does have some darker skin, so I would assume, based upon the information that I received from a vet last week (with a different dog), she may have had allergies at one time (which is common in Goldens). She is a smaller Golden (compared to my two).

According to her previous owners, she likes to ride in the car and sleeps on her dog bed. So far, she likes my bed (great...I need to get a bigger bed with all the dogs). They had a large yard without a fence and she loved to play catch with tennis balls for exercise. It is reported that she likes the water also. Without a fence, I can't tell if she is a jumper but they reported that she will wander at times. They had teenage children, but said she likes younger children. Right now, she is sitting next to my son on the floor while he plays cards. So, I would say she likes kids. Robby is actally playing cards with her (how funny is that).

Based upon the vet records I have, she needs her shots updated, needs to be treated for an ear infection, have a wellness exam and then will be ready for adoption. If you're interested in meeting this sweetie, please email Placementatragom [dot] org.
