4/16/06: We'd like to introduce Lucky - we changed her name a little bit to give her a name that fits her beautiful personality. So we changed it to Lucky Lindy, named after the famous Charles A. Lindbergh.

Lucky Lindy is a wonderful girl who is 100% Velcro love bug. Lucky Lindy is spayed, appears to be 4-5 years old, shorter style Golden, not sure on how much she weighs - I will find that out after our first vet visit.

Lindy had wandered onto a farm a few years ago and has been living with a family as an outside dog ever since. Lindy started to wander away from the farm so they decided that it was time to find her a new family.

Lucky Lindy is a wonderful girl who loves a lot of attention, she is always next to me or in my lap. She is looking for a family who will give her a lot of attention, let her cuddle and sit in your lap. She is good with kids but she does jump up. Even though it's a gentle jump she could knock over small children, but I think she would pick up quickly that she is not supposed to do that. We are working on four on the floor for attention. She will jump up and put her paws on counters, tables, or anything so she can stand next to you, so she will need to learn that it is not appropriate. So far she appears to be housebroken, no accidents, and we left her alone for a couple hours with my 2 Golden boys baby gated in the kitchen and she was fine.

So far my cats are in hiding, they usually hide the first day but I really don't think she would bother them. Once they come out I will let you know more. Lucky Lindy will curl her lip when she first meets other dogs but it lasts for about 30 seconds and she is ready to play. I believe she is just trying to show them that she deserves respect.

Right after we picked her up we took her to a PetCo event where she greeted a lot of new people and did great. I noticed that she would pull me toward men - she seems to be attracted first to men. The other thing I noticed right away is that if you're sitting on the floor she would pull me over so she could sit in people's laps. In my home she is totally attracted to me and won't leave my side. I thought for sure she would follow my boyfriend around but just like all the other Goldens in the house they are glued to my side. I have decided that she loves everyone but she will be most loyal to the main caretaker of the home.

Lucky Lindy would love to be allowed to sit in your lap at all times, she will lay next to you but if she can be in your lap she will try. She would be fine as an only dog or with another dog who will play with her. At first, she just stuck to my side but after a while she enjoyed chasing my Golden boys around and play bowing with them. My Arthur finally has his own playmate, Oakley is always too busy playing fetch to want to play with the other dogs.

The first night I took Lucky Lindy to bed with me and I allowed her up in the bed. I don't think she moved at all. Later in the night we put her back on the floor and she tried to get back in with us, she calmed down after a few minutes of panting and went back to sleep.

The surrendering owners told us that she does have seizures but it's not serious, as she is not on medication. Not sure what triggers the seizures or when she has them. I thought if anything her first day at PetCo, meeting so many families and dogs, and then coming to my house when we had friends over and 7 dogs running around that she would have had one from all the excitement, but nothing happened.

Last night before we went to bed someone was setting off fireworks and she didn't care at all...that's a relief. I haven't heard her bark yet either. Last night I went out and rang the door bell and she was just happy to see me and no barking. Once she is more relaxed I will see more of her true personality. So far it's all love, kisses, and cuddling. She's easy going, needs to learn not to jump up, and is very close to being a perfect girl.

The Easter Bunny forgot to bring batteries so we will need to get some before I can send pictures of her.

In the last few days I have learned so much about Lucky Lindy. It takes her a little bit of time to warm up and relax but she is all about being loyal and loving. She has been glued to my side 99% of the time. She is fine with cats, loves people, but is very loyal to me. I tried to tell her I wasn't her forever home but I think she started humming and walking away...la la la la, whatever you say la la la...same treatment I get from my son. Don't worry, she is not staying with me. I have never had a foster dog bond so fast, I guess she loves being an inside dog.

So far no accidents in the house, she goes outside and takes care of business.

Lucky Lindy can be a little skittish at first but with a little coaxing she will do anything. I can get her in the car with no problem but sometimes I have to coax her out.

I also found out that she smiles. This morning she put her front paws up on my bed to wake me up so I started to talk to her and her lips started moving. So I kept talking to see what would happen and pretty soon she was smiling and wagging her tail. When she first started moving her lips she was probably mumbling under her breath about how bad my breath was and decided to smile to get me to stop talking. I got up out of bed to go let her out and she turned around on the stairs and looked at me. That's when I first noticed that if she is really happy the bottom of her ear flaps curl up, kind of like the flying nun. I have only seen one other foster dog do this, it's a special treat to see.

Lucky Lindy is content to lay behind me when I'm on the computer, but if I'm anywhere else she wants to be in my lap or next to me at all times. She is such a great little cuddle buddy. Sorry about no pictures once again, I have been sick and haven't felt like stopping to pick up batteries. I will get this done, I swear.
