5/18/06: Sara is a 5 year old blonde, full of spunk and sweet as can be. She is AKC registered, has her papers and has been thru several years of obedience training and 4H. Sara's owner is moving away to college and will no longer be able to retrieve her from doggie jail, which is where she was spending some quality time since she likes to run off.

Sara is a farm dog and has been living with her mother since birth. I was sad for everyone today as I drove off, taking Sara from the only home she has ever known. But, in time, I think she'll bounce back just fine and some lucky family will be happy to love her!!

Right now, I can tell you that she loves all animals...from chickens, to cats, to cows and of course, other dogs. She is well socialized in that regard. She loves people. She will immediately sit at your side and wait for a pat on the head. She rubs up against us like a cat asking for more. Sara is great in the car, does okay on lead so far and will allow for us to handle her without a peep. My kids have spent some time with her and she is gentle and loving with them. No jumping at all.

Sara will be groomed tomorrow to freshen her up and brush that pretty coat and she will be spayed next week. She is available to see prospective families and I'll keep the updates coming as we get to know her better.

Sara is a nearly perfect house guest. She is very sweet, has a gentle mouth and is overall good natured and comfortable. She loves to fetch with tennis balls and we've gone for many walks. She has met tiny little dogs on walks and small children and is patient and kind to all. Sara plays with our four resident dogs and eats with them. She does not appear to have any resource guarding issues. She'll give up the ball in her mouth and takes treats nicely.

She was groomed on Friday and was very popular. No problems at all. We did find out that Sara is in heat and as soon as that is done, we'll be heading to the vet for a little procedure. She'll be brought up to date on shots and be ready to go. Sara has adapted thus far easily and she is waiting for her perfect forever home.

As her foster mom, it is my duty to see that she stays safe and happy and therefore, I will be looking for a home with a physical fence at least 4 ft. high. She can jump a 3 footer without much effort. Thus far, she has been with kids 5 and up and seems to enjoy the attention and shows no signs of being uncomfortable. I bet she'd love another fur friend to play with all day. Let's get Sara in her forever home so she can enjoy the summer with her new family!! Did I tell ya, she loves to swim!!
