Annie is a sweet senior girl with some spunk! She was adopted a few years ago; however, her mom could no longer be active so she made the difficult decision to return Annie to RAGOM to find a new family. Annie loves attention but also enjoys finding a quiet corner. Given that she’s lived with a few families, we will consider homes with kids ages 6 and older. Annie is very well mannered but can be timid when faced with new experiences, so she will require some patience!

Annie is a sweet senior girl with some spunk! She was adopted a few years ago; however, her mom could no longer be active so she made the difficult decision to return Annie to RAGOM to find a new family. Annie loves attention but also enjoys finding a quiet corner. Given that she’s lived with a few families, we will consider homes with kids ages 6 and older. Annie is very well mannered but can be timid when faced with new experiences, so she will require some patience!
Updates
Annie has found the most wonderful family to be a part of! She will be joining several fur siblings (a couple of them also RAGOM alum) in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. Her new parents are retired and are often home, so she will spend her days getting lots of belly rubs and scratches behind the ears, some of her favorite things!
Annie has had quite the journey in the past few years from breeder girl to living the Golden life. She has touched so many hearts along the way, and we can’t wait to hear how she’s settling in with her forever family.
What do ice fishing, sea scallops, and getting stuck under a bed all have in common? These are all things little Annie has experienced in her last few weeks while staying with us. Let us elaborate!
Ice fishing is just one of the many outdoor activities we’ve been able to do with Annie now that the weather has been a little more bearable. We didn’t catch any fish but I don’t think she minded! There was plenty of exploring and sniffing on the frozen lake and treats to be had in the fish house.
We also have spent lots of time around our yard shoveling and sledding. Annie loves to be out in the sun near all the action. She’s very interested in squirrels and about took my arm off in an attempt to catch one!
We have gone for a few walks around the neighborhood. We usually don’t go too far as Annie likes to take her time and do lots of sniffing along the way. She also has gotten a little spooked by things like flashing lights on a stopped school bus and the sound of a snow blower starting up.
On to the sea scallop story... We were cooking a tasty Valentine’s Day dinner and had sea scallops drying on the kitchen counter. We were prepping other food when Annie decided to help herself to a scallop! All it took was one “Annie down” to get her to return all four paws to the floor. We’re a little more careful with how close to the edge we leave food. At least we know she has good taste!
Apart from one counter surfing slip-up, Annie continues to be an excellent house guest and family member. She loves to be with us, following from room to room and reminding us when it’s time for another pet. Annie has met many family friends over the past few weeks and has stolen many hearts! Everyone comments what a sweet and gentle girl she is.
We are always finding amusement in the different places Annie likes to snuggle up. On two separate occasions she’s managed to get herself stuck under the bed! We realized it pretty quickly and got her out safely, she didn’t seem panicked, just completely stuck.
On evenings when she’s met her human affection quota for the day (if that’s even possible), Annie likes to curl up behind a recliner in the corner of the living room. We know she’s there when we hear her little snores.
Annie has also made it very clear that she loves car rides! Any time we leave the house, she will go into the garage and stand patiently at the car door waiting for her chance to hop in. Our goal is to take one of those rides down to Shakopee next weekend to show her off at a RAGOM Meet & Greet!
Sweet Annie is back with RAGOM and we are so lucky to have her!
Annie first came to RAGOM a couple of years ago as a retired breeder and soon after found a loving home. Her adoptive mom gave her a wonderful home for over a year and then made the difficult but loving decision to return Annie to RAGOM after things beyond her control no longer allowed her to provide the life she thought Annie deserves.
From the time Annie first came into our house, she has been nothing but a joy to have around. She greets you with that wonderful Golden smile and wagging tail and she loves affection.
As she got comfy in her new environment around new people and pups, she seemed a little timid at first but is gaining more confidence here with each passing day. An example of her overcoming her fears: the stairs were a little scary at first but now she handles them without a problem.
Given that she’s lived in a home with a few different families in the past couple years, we will consider families with kids ages 6 and older.
Annie’s yard had a physical fence at her adoptive mom’s house and Annie tried to dig under it. So she would not be safe with just a physical fence or boundary training, and instead would be best on a supervised tie-out or leash.
Annie quickly fell into the routine of morning breakfast and going outside to sniff and potty, accompanied by her two foster brothers. She gets excited at meal time and almost seems to lead us to where the food is stored in case we forget! Speaking of food, she takes treats so gently and waits her turn and even will sit or lay down to earn them.
Annie does really well having other dogs to watch and learn from. She seems to enjoy their company but doesn’t think twice before nudging them out of the way to be front and center for affection from her people.
We’ve only heard her bark once in the time that she’s been here, and that was when our lab was a little too wiggly in her personal space. It wasn’t an aggressive bark, rather more of an older sister reprimanding her little brother!
With all the cold weather recently, we haven’t spent as much time outside as we’d like, but she sure seems to enjoy the fresh snow for as long as we can stand the cold. As she’s getting more familiar with our yard and home, she seems to have a little more pep in her step each time we go out. She does well on a leash with a harness but does pull a bit as she’s eager to explore.
In the evenings, Annie likes to curl up and snooze either close by us we pet her or will sometimes go off and find a quiet corner of her own to catch some Zzz's. She sometimes is hesitant to go outside to potty after dark in the evening but goes fine in the morning when it’s dark. When she’s in for the night and totally relaxed, we even hear her soft little snores as she’s sweetly dreaming.
Since coming to our home, we’ve brushed and bathed Annie and she did great with both! She seems to enjoy the pampering. She hops in the car for a ride with no problem and sits nicely looking out the window, such a polite girl. Annie passed her wellness check at the vet with flying colors—nine years old never looked so good!
We have had multiple opportunities to leave Annie at home unsupervised when we’re gone. Each time we’ve come home, the only things out of place are a few shoes that she has decided to relocate! She doesn’t chew or do any damage; it’s just a comforting thing while her people are away. Annie even has a pair of “security boots” from her previous foster a couple of years ago!
We feel so fortunate to have this time with Annie before she finds her forever home. She is such a special girl and you can’t help but smile when you’re around her. Stay tuned for more Annie updates!
