Baloo (Yogi 17-042A)

Profile

Sponsored by Friends of Flicka "In memory of Yogi Bear, a perfect friend, sharing his unconditional love forever." Yogi is one of the Missouri auction dogs that was rescued with 9 other Golden Retrievers and 8 Golden Doodles from a commercial breeding auction. This boy, who is bursting with love, is named after a Friends of Flicka Board member's dog who passed away recently. Friends of Flicka were critical members in allowing this rescue to happen. Yogi is honored to be named after such a great dog, although he is still learning his name since he's only had it for a few days! Yogi has been to the vet and got a clean bill of health with the exception of an ear infection and intestinal parasites, both of which are very common and will be cleared up with medication in the next few days. Yogi is getting neutered in the near future (hopefully this week). After his recovery, he can't wait to meet his forever family.

Yogi is a puppy (although in a larger body) so he is still working on potty training at his foster home, as this wasn't taught to him before he was rescued.  He has had less than 5 pee accidents since arriving at his foster home and no poop :)  He loves playing and following his foster sister around the house.  Yogi will need another dog to show him the ropes and how to love a life outside of a commercial breeding facility.  Yogi has a LOT of energy.  He has been enjoying two or more walks a day as well as running around in a fenced backyard to keep him safe as he learns his name and basic commands.  Yogi will need an active family to keep up with him.  Yogi is learning sit, stay, come, and down.  These are tricky skills to learn because he is a busy boy who is easily distracted.

Yogi is still getting used to life outside the breeding facility.  He is unsure of new things.  Since Yogi has lived with FM and FD he has learned that going through doors, up and down stairs and in and out of cars are not as scary as he thought.  He does sometimes forget how brave he is so it is important to be very patient and show him that the situation is safe.

Yogi is such an affectionate dog.  He loves being with people and giving kisses.  Yogi sleeps on the bedroom floor in close proximity to his foster sister and FM and FD.  He has had no accidents during the night.  After a morning walk and play time, Yogi relaxes in his kennel during the work day for approximately 8 hours and does great while his foster sister has free roam of the house.

Our sweet Yogi (Yoggers) found his furever home today with the W  Family. Yogi is excited to have an active family with several humans to love and a fun foster brother who loves to play as much as he does. Yogi is also looking forward to their fenced in yard! We wish Yogi the best of luck with his new family.

Yogi made such huge growth while living at his foster home. He went from a scared, timid boy that had a hard time relaxing to an energetic, spunky pup that had a love for everything in life. Yogi had a huge support system including Jim from Friends of Flicka who came to see him to wish him luck before his adoption. Yogi definitely captured the hearts of many, especially his FM, FD and his foster sister. We all will miss him but are so grateful we got to be the beginning part of his spectacular life with the W family!
