Our Miss Beth was adopted by a wonderful repeat RAGOM adopter on May 24. Beth is now known as Skylar and she has a furr brother named Cooper. I think Beth/Skylar took a liking to Cooper at their first meeting. Cooper is about the same age as Skylar and he made more than eyes for our sweet girl.
Foster Dad was pretty nervous about adopting out Beth/Skylar. We wanted our girl to be less afraid of human interaction and to be able to just take her for a walk down the street with the other dogs. Beth/Skylar did get her first walk outside of the safe confines of our fenced in yard on May 7 when another dog savvy owner came to visit. Just like our vet trip, we had Beth/Skylar in a harness with a leash, 2 collars with leashes, and a slip lead. She definitely tried to wiggle out of all of the leashes but it didn't work. So she decided to follow her pal Lauren and the 2 Cocker Spaniels and we walked about 3-4 blocks. Success and hopefully more to come.
Skylar's new Mom has been waiting very patiently for her to finalize the adoption and get her home. We finally got a clean bill of health in regards to the worm parasites that Skylar had so now we could set the date. Her Mom took the Thursday and Friday off of the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. The weekend before the adoption Foster Dad was dog sitting for his cousin's Cocker Spaniel. When I came home from work Friday May 19 I found the snap end and about 6 inches of nylon leash on my floor. You may have guessed it - our girl, Beth/Skylar, decided to eat the leash. She had previously eaten a harness and a collar plus my comforter. So this made FD very nervous about the adoption. We did take her in the day of the adoption and had an x-ray and exam done but did not find anything to indicate a blockage.
Of course, on the long holiday weekend poor Beth/Skylar started to have some issues. She saw several vets over a few days and fortunately they were able to remove the leash through an endoscopic procedure. She was really stressed out by all of this but is very glad to be back to her new Mom, Michelle, and her brother Cooper. Congratulations Michelle and Cooper and Beth/Skylar! We are glad that you live nearby and we hope to see you blossom even more!
