Profile

Brea was surrendered by a loving family who wanted her to get more individual attention and training. She is a sweet girl with a laid-back demeanor. Brea would do best with experienced dog owners who can offer a calm, patient, and loving environment where she can spend time being active outdoors with her family. Children should be age 10+ and dog savvy. Brea can live with other dogs or as an only dog; she hasn’t been tested with cats. Although optional, a physical fence is recommended.

Brea has found her forever family and will enjoy the rest of her days taking amazing adventures, enjoying daily walks, and being the center of love and attention as an only dog.

Her family is retired and will be able to spend a lot of time with her. They are looking forward to continuing training and helping her live her best life!

Brea’s personality and character comes through a little bit more every day as she becomes more confident and relaxed. It has been wonderful to see this well-loved girl adapt to a different lifestyle. She came from a family of love with lots of brothers and sisters, so some things are an adjustment for her.

She is very eager to get pets from her people, explore, and check things out in the house and outdoors. She is a sweet, sensitive girl with a serious side, but she also has a bit of a silly side, which makes us smile or laugh everyday.

While Brea is a calm girl, she is full of stamina and energy when it comes to walking, hiking or running. She walks well with the Gentle Leader and is a great companion on the trail. Exercise is crucial for her, as it would be recommended for her to lose a few more pounds and it makes her a much happier girl.

She does have a high prey drive, so that will require extra diligence in walking her. A fenced-in yard would also be ideal, but under the right circumstances, a home without a fence could be considered.

Brea has gotten along well with dogs she’s met, but slow introductions are good for her, as she seems to get a bit overwhelmed. I believe she would most appreciate a calm, mellow dog as a companion, but because she is so laid-back and independent, another dog in the home would not be required.

She protested strongly to going into a crate, but respects baby gates. She behaves well being left alone and enjoys free roam at night. She does like to go “shopping” regularly and will carry objects around from place to place, but she does it with a cute smooshy-face smile.

Her manners are greatly improving, but she loves food and is very opportunistic, taking the chance at a free snack when she can. She knows “sit,” and “wait” and is polite about eating and taking treats.

She generally sleeps on the end of the bed or on her bed in the hallway. At times, she can be sensitive in the evenings and will give a warning growl when she does not want to be touched, so her ideal family will be patient as she gains trust and will learn her moods and continue to work with her.

Brea has made good progress and it isn’t a daily occurrence. For this reason, children in her forever home should be at least 10 years old and be respectful of dogs and their personal space. She does LOVE kids and interacts very well with them overall!

An ideal family for this sweet girl would be an experienced dog owner who can offer her a calm, patient, and loving environment where she gets to spend lots of time being active outdoors.

Brea will need humans who can give her the time and attention she so deserves. She will reward you with one of her sweet “B” smiles and companionship that will warm your heart!
