Charlotte saw the surgeon last week, and the news was a little discouraging. She has arthritis in her elbows and wrists due to her short stature and the bone structure that is common with it.
The surgeon recommended a simple surgery that should help to relieve some of the pressure on her wrist and make it more comfortable. That will take place on November 29th. Recovery will probably take 4 to 6 weeks.
Dr. R also recommended trying joint injections in her elbows to see if that helps her to be more comfortable. She will have 2 to 3 injections over a 4- to 6-week period. If they help, she would benefit from them every 3 to 6 months for the foreseeable future.
It is so hard to tell day to day that she is in pain! She runs, wrestles, and chases balls, though always with the limp and hop on her front paw. She's a very happy, sweet girl! If we can make her more comfortable, we will do it.
Char is a love with other dogs and people, too! She could fit into almost any family, but would prefer one that does not expect her to walk long distances, hike trails, etc. She does need to stay lean and strong to support her joints, so daily activity is a must for her.
We received a lot of applications when Charlotte was first posted. I am not sure if any of them are still interested after reading this, but please let us know if Charlotte seems like a good fit!
