Rose, a.k.a. Mama Rose, has been adopted by a repeat RAGOM adoptive family. Rose is going to a home with a RAGOM adoptee. They met and bonded immediately. It was meant to be.
Congratulations to Rose and her new family.

Rose has been unavailable to take applications because Ms. Rose had eight puppies and needed to stick around to take care of them. All eight have flown the coop, and she is ready to find her fur-ever home.
While she waits patiently for her new family to fill out an inquiry, she will have an appointment to be spayed. She is up to date with all of her vaccinations. She still needs to put on a couple of pounds. Taking care of all those puppies takes a lot out of those mama dogs.
If you ask me to describe Rose, I can do it with one word: joy. She is a very happy girl and loves to run and play with her foster fur-sister. Rose is quite social and loves to be petted. She is just a little shy when she first meets someone, but very quickly come to get pets and some lovin’.
When I say “run,” you need to picture in your mind the image of a gazelle. That is what she acts like, with those skinny legs and the small body leaping and bouncing across the yard. She also leaps sideways. She will be standing still and leap to the side. It's the strangest thing I have ever seen in one of my fosters.
Rose was a breeder girl, and we are working through housetraining. In all honesty, it was not my number 1 focus with the puppies in the house. Rose will not soil the area she is in, such as a penned area, but if given free roam of the house, she will pee at night.
With the puppies, she was not kenneled as I had her and the puppies in a large kennel area. I will be getting her used to going into a kennel this next week.
Rose needs another dog as an example of how to be, and really, she needs a playmate. When left to herself, she gets bored and is not really all that interested in chewing bones or toys. Now, leave the toy on the floor and let her play keep away with another pup, and she is entertained for hours.
She recently learned that if she jumps on the patio table, she can get a better view of the yard. We are working on deterring her from that activity.
She is learning to come when she hears her name and for a whistle. I do allow my pups to jump on the couch and bed, so she will want to do that in her fur-ever home.
She needs work on walking on a leash. We are starting to do more of that now that I can focus on her and her alone.
Rose is very loving and she will be a great companion to both her humans and fur-family.

Everyone is touching. I would like to move to get some projects done around the house, but I know that once I move, it will disrupt everyone. I guess the work will have to wait!

Rose makes me smile. Every time I look at her, I can't help being happy.
Rose joined the RAGOM family on Feb 10th after a very long car ride. She came to us from a commercial breeding auction, where she was listed as possibly being pregnant.
Last week, on what would have been the 24th day after mating, I took her in to the vet. A sonogram was done, and sure enough, the pictures proved to be positive. The expected due date is April 7th. The vet thinks that Rose has had puppies before, based on some physical signs.
Rose is a very petite little thing and really should be named Peanut. Right now, I call her Mama Rose. She is medium brown with very dark brown eyes and very dark circles around her eyes. She reminds me of Cleopatra with the heavy eye liner!
She is on a 10-day ear treatment for yeast. This is common in Golden Retrievers. She is not especially fond of having the stuff in her ears, but she does love the ear rubs she gets and has a tendency to lean in.
Being new to indoor living, Rose had accidents in the house when she first came. She spent her first several days either tethered to me or kept within a few feet. Many trips outside and rewards for doing her business outside has done wonders. She is a creature of habit, which has made training all the more easily done.
Now that she is consistent about going outside, I need to get her to go further out in the yard. She has decided her place to go is right outside the back door. Not the perfect spot, but at least it is outside!
Rose and my resident Golden, Belle, have a great time together, wrestling and running back and forth on the deck. They sleep close by each other, usually touching. Rose will need a medium to large fur sister or brother for company and to continue to teach her the Golden Life.
My other dog is a small Poodle mix who has "little dog syndrome" and likes to be king of the palace. Rose just stays away when he gets grumpy.
Rose loves to watch TV. I catch her enthralled with all the movements. If animal sounds come on, she has to get up close to see.
She chews on toys and loves to rip things like paper. I caught her with my slippers yesterday, but she gave them up easily. She loves treats and we have started to do some basic training.
Rose will not be available to adopt until sometime in June. I will keep you posted on how life with Mama Rose continues.
Please Note: RAGOM will not be accepting applications for Rose’s puppies until the puppies are available for adoption and are listed on our Adoptable Dogs page.
