Holy smoke! Dad just finished updating my progress a month ago and suddenly, I’m home!
We found a perfect place for me with a big sister, a younger sister, and a great backyard to romp in. This place is a blast!
It happened so fast, my head is spinning, but I couldn’t be happier here and I LOVE my siblings! Mom and Dad have lots of time for their pets and they laugh every day at the way we play and protect our yard. I’m learning that not everything that pops up is scary. Although I still have a long way to go before this world makes complete sense to me.
Thanks so much to all the RAGOM people that have helped me since I joined this pack almost two years ago. The Meet & Greets used to terrify me, but even those became kind of fun.
I learned from my foster folks that I could trust humans and that they’d never make me scared on purpose. They did teach me that other humans (even kids and vets) just want to be my friends. Now, after just a minute or two, I like to see what they smell like and sound like… it’s all pretty good.
So, on to the next phase. I really like being treated like a family member (especially when it’s treat time!) and having a place to call my own. I hope we get to do another Goldzilla next summer and I hope to meet you there!
Love, Emily

Since I last wrote, my humans have been teaching me so much!
I’ve learned that they don’t really like me to bark at every noise I hear. Dad and Mom just call me over and ask me, “Em, what’s going on?” They make it sound really safe to come over to cuddle a bit. What’s not to like about that? I am mostly a herding dog though, so I really have a strong instinct to let them know what I’ve heard.
I’m also having a blast with my big foster sister, Charlee, and our neighbor pup, Lola. Lola’s been “Up North” most of the summer (what’s with that?), but when she’s around for a few days, we’ve spent hours and hours out back, chasing each other and wrestling. The 6-foot fence makes us all feel safe.
Dad says to remind everyone that I’m still looking for my forever home! I’d really like a nice, quiet spot, with kids over ten years old and a secure, 5-foot or higher fence. I also need an older dog around that can help me keep learning where the good stuff is and to help me get more and more confident. Check out the latest in my photo album to see the fun we’ve been having!

When I left Oklahoma for Minnesota just a bit more than one year ago, I thought, “Well, this should be different!”
Holy smokes!
Here we are, hanging around with Foster Mom and Foster Dad, waiting for the world to get past this weird new virus thing. We haven’t really seen a ton of day-to-day change, except I was just used to visits from these kids who kept coming by, calling Mom and Dad “Grandma” and “Grandpa.” Where’d they go? Weird.
It’s gotten pretty quiet in the neighborhood too, which is just fine by me! I hate having noisy cars and trucks zooming through the area all the time, so the quieter days are kind of to my liking. It is really odd to have the kids behind us outside so much, bouncing that ball around all the time.
Dad sits with me and just scratches my ear. The bouncing doesn’t bother me quite so much then. And get this! The family next door disappeared a few weeks ago, along with our pal, Lola! The humans just said something like, “Heading to the cabin! See you when this is over!” Weird.
Sadly, I’m still waiting to find my forever home and I’d sure like to get on with the rest of my life. I really love people and other dogs. I get pretty playful outside, but inside, I really enjoy the quiet without little people around and having a nice bone to gnaw on. My foster folks really seem to love me, but they always say that they want a family for me that will be forever! That sounds pretty good to me.

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that I’ve only been living in Minnesota for about 9 months and yet, here I am!
Having a great time with my foster family—and big foster sister, Charlee! We get along great and I learn a lot just watching her poke around our yard and chase the Frisbee. Foster Dad keeps coaxing me to join in the chase, but I kind of like to just chase Charlee after she’s gotten it.
I really love bouncing around in the snow! Charlee and Lola—our next-door black Lab pal—try to catch me and we have a great time running around. We get a lot of exercise that way!
Dad’s also started taking me for short walks so I can learn the ropes on walking with a rope. I’m OK on a short one, but if he lets me have a bit more, I can’t seem to stay out from under his feet! But I’m pretty smart—I’ll get this worked out.
Foster Dad’s getting more and more OK with me being around kids, too. We’re still going to say “no kids under age 10” though. I get pretty timid when little ones try to hug me or pet me too hard.
Well, I promise to write more often and I’d sure love to hear from you if you’d like to meet. I’m a fun-loving pup. I’m really coming out of my shell and I look forward to checking out your tummy-rub abilities. That’s all for now!

Hi, again, Emily here with an update! This has been a really busy summer here in Foster Heaven. That’s what I’ve named this place I’m in. I’ve really been happy, hanging around with my foster sister, Charlee and our next door neighbor, Lola. We spend a bunch of time together almost every day and when Lola’s at the back gate, I can hardly contain my excitement!
You notice I said “our” next door neighbor. That’s because I’ve really settled into life here and I’m getting calmer and feeling more at home every day.
Dad and mom hardly ever have to coax me through the door on the way outside. If I hear a big truck go by, or the neighbor kids playing basketball, that’s a different story. But, if I’m outside and there’s someone to cuddle with, even that noise isn’t too bad anymore!
I really like the idea of having this nice, safe fence to protect me. Just before I came here, I climbed right over a four-foot chain-link fence. Dad says he’s glad they have a five- or six-foot wood fence.
In fact, he was talking to someone the other day (I listened in, because I heard him say my name) and he said they were going to change the adoption requirement to include a 5-foot or higher fence for me, as well as a confident resident dog at least my size (I’m holding steady at 30 pounds now!).
That’s probably because the coolest thing I have going on is play-time with my siblings and visits with the younger kids in the neighborhood! I love playing “tag” with the other dogs and when we come inside, Charlee and I will continue the “battle.” That involves some ear pulling and pretend fighting that might scare a smaller dog. Luckily, a calm dog like Charlee or Lola won’t mind a bit.
Back to the story about kids. Dad says that my new family can’t have kids younger than 10 years old, mostly because younger kids are harder to train. No kidding… the neighbor girl gets to make short visits, but Dad is always with me. Any children in my home need to be calm around me and understand that I get nervous.
Well that’s it for now, I’ve got to go. I’ve just figured out why Charlee loves squeaky toys and chew bones and I see one right by the back door—time for a good chew. What a life!
Oh, and hey! I’ve heard we’re going to something called Goldzilla in September. That sounds like a blast! Maybe we can meet there? I think I’d like that.

Hey everyone! I’ll bet you’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing lately. Well I’ve had a pretty great month or so since you last heard about me. I've been visiting some new folks, because my original fosters had to go take care of some family stuff up north.
My new fosters and their awesome Golden girl, Charlee, took me in for a visit about three weeks ago. It’s gone so well here that I’ve ended up moving in with them so they can be my new foster family. That way I won’t be moving around so much and I can concentrate on finding a forever family. These RAGOM people are awesome! They’re all going to work together to find someone to adopt me!
Just like at my first foster home, it’s been important for me to have another dog in the house to learn from. Charlee's really OK with me just being me, which I appreciate. She has a bestie, Lola, the black lab next door. When all three of us get together, it’s a blast!
They’re both bigger than me, but I’m faster! I haven’t figured out why they like chasing after tennis balls and Frisbees so much, but I have to admit, it looks fun and I might try it one of these days.
We spent the first week that I was here figuring out the way things work—every family’s different you know. But I’ve been surprised and really happy to learn that my new folks are just as nice as the first ones. They also let me know that I have to listen, sit for treats, and go outside when they say. (I still don’t like doorways, but that’s getting better.)
I sort of surprised Foster Dad one day, by hiding in the egress window well. He looked everywhere! When he found me, he just picked me up and lifted me up out of there. I tried hiding there again the next day. That afternoon, a wall mysteriously appeared around that window well.
Both of the folks always talk softly to me and pet me every chance they get. Wow, what a life! I’ve even started following them around the house and cuddling, because I know they’re going to scratch my belly and let me sit next to them on the chair. They seem to watch the Twins a lot and I really like baseball, too!
Have I mentioned that I can be a little shy? Well, I’m working on that, too. And as I've gotten used to things, I've really started having fun and enjoying life in Minnesota. Here is what I'll need in my forever home:
- a medium to large, confident, resident dog to show me the ropes,
- a fenced-in yard, and
- if there are children in the home they must be age 10 or older and know to be calm around skittish dogs
So, now I'm looking for a new family to welcome me into their lives full time. Let's get together for a visit soon!

Please join me in welcoming Emily to the RAGOM family!
Emily is a 1½-year-old Golden mix and is just as sweet as she looks. Weighing in at a petite 29 pounds with a honey gold color, she looks like a mini Golden Retriever. Emily spent the first month of her RAGOM life "up north" with her temporary foster family who introduced her to living the Golden life and she so appreciates them giving her a great start!
Although she is still initially cautious when meeting new people, she will quickly warm up and want to sit next to you for scratches for as long as you can give them. She is pretty laid back when inside the house but when she's outside, she will present the cutest play bows and romping—much like a fawn, so cute to watch!
If you're looking for Golden "forever puppy" and you think your home can provide everything that little Emily needs for a long Golden life, consider adopting Emily!
