Sandy came into RAGOM's care from life as a commercial breeding dog. Sandy is a healthy girl, but is timid and uncertain around people. She is slowly adjusting to the home environment. Due to her background, children should be age 10+. Sandy requires a confident, calm, older resident dog to follow and learn from, but who will not want to play. Sandy must have a physical fence to keep her safe. Sandy needs a calm, patient home that will gently guide her progress as she learns about living in a home.

Sandy was adopted today to an amazing family. She will have a fur sister to follow around and become friends with and her own 10 year old boy.

Meet Sandy! Actually she has only had the name Sandy since March. Before that, she was a number at a breeder. For 7 years she made puppies. Now, the breeder gave her up to begin a new life as a real Golden Retriever.

Because of her past, she is afraid of many things that she has never experienced before. Mostly people. She really likes all other dogs, she just doesn't want to play with them. When in the house she likes to stay in her kennel, door open—always. She does absolutely love you to reach in and pet her, and pet her, and pet her.

She loves attention on her own terms. When she is comfortable and safe she closes her eyes and relaxes when being pet. She really enjoys it and is even learning that it is not so scary to come out, especially when she gets treats, which seems new to her. She absolutely needs another confident, calm dog. She learns from them how to live the "Golden" life.

She has started smiling and wagging her tail. When outside she is initially afraid of people and will bark and run from you. She absolutely needs a physical fenced yard where she can explore on her own terms. She has been around children and done great with them but children 10 and older are needed as she becomes more comfortable around humans.

She is absolutely eye candy! I can only imagine how beautiful her puppies were. But those days are done and now she needs a family of her own, one that will help her grow and learn how to be loved. She is still afraid, so someone with experience in these characteristics is needed along with their confident dog who is willing to lead her to her forever life.

She also must have a fenced yard where she can explore and feel safe. She does like walks a lot but has no experience with walking, so will weave between your legs. She knows no commands at all but I think she will be anxious for you to teach her, gently.

She is house broken and does not need kenneling in the house. She doesn't chew or hurt anything. She has just learned that small stuffed toys are fun and she has started putting them in piles around her.

She has such a wonderfully sweet spirit and is waiting for you to love her.
