Otis came to RAGOM with Missy 19-051 as a bonded pair; they must be adopted together. Otis is an affectionate boy who enjoys being with other dogs, cats, and people. However, it would be best for any children in his home to be older (13+) as he has mobility issues and sometimes becomes confused due to his seizure disorder, for which he is receiving treatment. Otis will need a family committed to his continued health care and understanding of his needs.

Otis has been adopted!

Sunday, September 8, 2019

Otis and Missy 19-051 are a bonded pair of senior Goldens. They came into RAGOM’s care after their world was turned upside down when their owner passed away and they were taken by animal control to a shelter in Iowa.

Otis is a very loving, sweet boy who loves being with his humans, Missy, other dogs, and cats. He is a special boy with a gentle personality and a love that knows no limits.

You can keep up to date on Otis and Missy’s adventures and antics @p_s.ragom.fosters on Instagram.

Otis has been in foster care for 5 months. He is a 70-pound, adorable, darker-red Golden.

Otis does suffer from seziures, but we continue to work on them being controlled with medication. He also has some mobility problems and sometimes is slow to get up. Due to this, he should go to a home with no or minimal stairs and no young children.

What Otis needs in his forever home:

  • His bonded partner Missy 19-051
  • A home without many stairs
  • More carpet than slippery floors
  • A fence would be nice, but not necessary
  • Children over 13 years of age due to his senior status
  • Stuffies that he can carry around both inside and outside
  • A kitty is optional
  • Car/van rides as he loves going places
  • Leisurely walks around the neighborhood or trails
  • Cuddle time and lots of tummy rubs
  • Nice, soft, cushy beds
  • Commitment to his continued health care which includes:
  1. 1000 mg Keppra 2X/day ($45.00/month at HyVee)
  2. 20 mg Enalapril 1X/day ($26.00 for 2months at HyVee)
  3. Joint supplement each day - we use Dasaquin with MSM chewable ($76.99 for 150 chews at Amazon) and fish oil with each meal
  4. Maintaining his weight with a low-protein diet and exercise

And most importantly, give Missy and Otis the best senior life and love a Golden could ask for!
