Russell was adopted to the W family. He will have a great big backyard to play fetch with his human brother and sister. He will also get to enjoy summers at the lake. His new family could not be happier with their new addition.

Russell has been in his foster home for two weeks now. The first couple of days were pretty tough on poor Russell. He did not know how he had gotten here, and it was clear that he missed his home deeply.

He was introduced to our resident dogs slowly. They did have a bit of a shouting match the first time they met, but since then, things have been smooth sailing. It seems like he has really taken a liking to our resident Pomeranian quite a bit. All three of them co-exist just fine now!

Russell had his first vet appointment, and of course, the vet staff thought he was so charming. He did great! He is all up to date for vaccinations, and his stool sample was negative for parasites. When he arrived at his foster home, he had an ear infection, but at the appointment, that was all cleared up. He is an ideal weight of 55 lbs.

We have learned a lot about Russell since he has been here. He loves attention. He has no problems laying with you on the couch, or if he is fast enough getting to the bed first, then he definitely thinks he should sleep there for the night. He does mostly sleep on a dog bed on the floor in Foster Mom and Dad's room at night. Occasionally, he will sleep in his kennel with the door open.

Things to know about Russell:

  • He is a Labradoodle and he does shed. We initially thought he was a Goldendoodle, but in fact, he is a Labradoodle. He will need to be groomed on a consistent basis. He does not seem to mind being combed/groomed, and this is so important for this breed.
  • He is not fully potty trained. Almost... but has had a few accidents.
  • Russell loves walks; however, he still needs to learn some leash etiquette. He also loves to play fetch and does pretty well at bringing the ball back.
  • He has not met a person that he does not like. He will let you pet/scratch him all over. He does not mind any part of his body touched. He is very good with hands in his mouth looking at his teeth or brushing them.

What Russell will need is a very patient family to help him get accustomed to his new life. Unfortunately, he been to many different homes in the last few months and is still quite anxious. He often wants to jump in my car and does not want to leave it. We just don't really know what is going on in his little head.

What we do know is that he is a very affectionate companion that will bring you so much joy. He always has a smile on his face and is very eager to please. If you are someone that thinks you can help Russell be his best self and have a lot of time and patience for this beautiful boy, please consider submitting an application.
