Chevy has settled into his new life in the suburbs with his retired and loving owners and their grandchildren who visit often. He has come a long way from his reactive, impulsive, street-smart ways to becoming more well-mannered and relaxed.
He proudly wears his red jacket with his name embroidered on it as he walks nicely on a leash (after the first couple months of being a bucking bronco). He was a very good boy at Thanksgiving festivities.
Chevy will continue his training and enjoying the Golden life of lots of balls, squeaky toys, a cushy bed, belly rubs, trips to the dog park, playtime with his people and doggie girlfriend next door.

Chevy has been adopted!
He has his very own mom and dad, a big fenced backyard and lots of toys to call his very own! We miss seeing his smiley face every day, but seeing him loved so much by his forever family is priceless.
Happy tails, Chevy.

Welcome Mr. Chevy to the RAGOM family! Chevy is one of nine Goldens that made the long trip from Turkey, and we couldn’t love him more. He is a pretty mellow guy who loves his food, toys, and people.
Like most dogs in Turkey, Chevy was neutered at a municipal shelter and released back out onto the streets to live. Luckily a rescuer found him, as his neuter site had become infected. He was nursed back to health and doesn’t have any lasting effects of the infection.
Chevy has been with his foster family for a little over a week now and his personality has really started to shine. We are fairly certain at some point he had exposure to kids, because he just loves to be around our two boys (ages 5, 6). They are able to throw a ball for him; he will fetch and very gently drop for them to throw again. Such a good boy!
He loves to go for walks and walks very nicely with an Easy Walk Harness. The first walk we went on he had the biggest smile on his face—it’s such a joy to see him doing typical “dog” activities.
He has taken and does take a lot of cues on behavior and manners from my resident Golden. Chevy would be fine with another dog or as an only dog, because he really seeks out his people for most of his attention.
Chevy has free roam of the house when we are gone and does just fine. He has never chewed anything he shouldn’t, doesn’t get into the garbage, and unlike the other Turkey dogs I’ve fostered he has never counter surfed for extra food.
He will bark at animals in the yard. He was very interested in a couple of deer that passed through and he will chase smaller animals, so I don’t think cats are a good idea in his forever home.
Chevy arrived with extremely itchy skin. A vet visit revealed an active skin infection as well as areas of healed infection. He has allergies that have gone untreated for a long time. He is finishing up a round of prednisone and an antibiotic to clear up the active infection.
Next week he will have a Cytopoint injection to treat his allergies and hopefully put a stop to the cycle of scratching and infection. Allergies are a lifelong condition for Chevy and he will need ongoing medication for them.
This will need to be actively monitored by his adopter and their veterinarian to ensure he is healthy. When applying to Adopt Chevy, please consider the cost of these injections as well as any future treatment/testing he may need.
Chevy loves his people, he loves nothing more than laying by you, and leaning in for pets. He is a really great dog and would love to be part of a family.
