We are happy to report that sweet Mr. Yukon has found his forever family! He will be spending his days going for walks, exploring the lake, and enjoying his family.
This guy has learned so much about what it's like to be a valued family member since his arrival from Turkey. We're glad to have been part of his journey and we're excited for his future!

What a week it has been for Mr. Yukon! It’s stunning to think he’s only been in our house and in this country for just over two weeks. He seems so much more relaxed and comfortable here now than on day one.
He is really getting the hang of not marking inside and he’s helping us to understand when he has to potty. He now goes to the door or paces around the room to let us know. He is patient during our training process!
This boy loves to carry things around in his mouth. Usually he sticks to a rubber bone or ball, but occasionally tries out a sock or a babydoll... he’s catching on, though, and will trade for higher-value items like a treat. He also is getting more comfortable with going into his crate when we leave the house and enjoys the treat that comes along with it.
This beautiful weather has gotten us outside more. He has done some longer walks without issue and, for the most part, walks nicely on a leash.
Yukon also got to try out his sea legs for a couple of short boating adventures and he did awesomely! He just loves to be with people no matter where he is.
We have noticed that he seems to be a little hard of hearing. There have been times when we’ve walked into a room behind him while talking and then put a hand on him for pets, and he seems startled like he couldn’t hear us. He definitely still has some hearing, but it's something for us to watch for.
We’ve had a chance to introduce him to various family and friends, and everyone swoons over him. He has a smile and a loving personality that can’t help but win you over!

We are so excited to share sweet Yukon with the world! This guy came all the way from Turkey about a week ago and he’s settling right in. We don’t know much about his life in Turkey. He was found leashed to a fence, but no one ever came for him, so he was welcomed into the RAGOM family.
Yukon loves to be with his people and will follow us from room to room, always leaning in for pets. He does great with our five-year-old daughter, but is very food-motivated and will take every opportunity to grab a snack out of anyone’s hands (not aggressive, just grabby). Children in his forever home should be a little older (around 10) and dog-savvy.
He has a wonderful blocky head with such a sweet smile! He just melts your heart.
We’ve all been trying to synchronize our internal clocks. For the first few nights, Yukon seemed to still be on Turkey time and would wake up woofing around 4 am! He’s adjusting more to our usual routine as the days go by. At night, he settles in on a dog bed next to ours and seems very relaxed.
He also came with the habit of lifting a leg and marking inside, but we’re working with him on the proper place to potty and he’s really getting the hang of it!
We work during the day and have crated him due to the marking habits and chewing on toys or socks when given the opportunity. He goes into the crate just fine with treat motivation and lots of praise, and he's had no potty accidents while crated.
Yukon does bark a little bit when first crated or if he’s outside on his tie-out and he feels his people are too far away (even if it’s just 10 feet away). He just really loves to be around people and likes to remind us that he’s still there!
He has been enjoying being outdoors in the beautiful weather and is content sniffing around the yard, playing fetch (still working on releasing the ball), or rolling on his back in the grass.
We have been so impressed with how well this guy does in the car. He rides very nicely and was a perfect gentleman at his first vet appointment. He has had two baths and does so great; he’s such a charmer!
He will need some follow-up vet care as his teeth are quite worn and he has a growth on one of his hind paws. We’re going to get him in next week to take care of those things.
Yukon does like to go for walks, but seems to not want to go too far. His hips seem a little weak, which we’re going to mention again to the vet. Sometimes he’ll just lay down mid-walk for a break, but doesn’t seem to be in pain.
He also has trouble on our stairs. He can do them, but sometimes his back end sort of gives out on his way up. We’re going to keep a close eye on it and make sure he’s not pushing himself too much.
Our two resident dogs and Yukon (all males) have gotten along pretty well. Yukon has shown no signs of aggression, but will go up and take a ball from their mouths. Other than that, they are all coexisting peacefully!
We haven’t had Yukon around cats yet, so we are not sure how he’ll do there. He has shown some interest in birds and squirrels, but isn’t obsessed like some pups can be.
