We are so excited to announce Shiloh found her perfect home! Shiloh is now part of the A family. She has a mom that adores her and a human sister that promises to be lots of fun.

She’s already been on lots of walks around the neighborhood, attended a softball game where everyone loved her, and has a furry neighbor friend named Nugget who shares her love of tennis balls. Shiloh will go on lots of adventures with her new family and most importantly will be given all of the love and attention she deserves.

The A family recently lost their Golden, Buddy, to old age. Buddy also had MMM. We’re all pretty sure that Buddy played a role in bringing them all together. We miss you, Shiloh, but know you will have a great life.

Shiloh 19-129

Shiloh is a beautiful and friendly 5 year old purebred Golden who was surrendered to RAGOM when her family’s living arrangements changed. Shiloh has been with us for just over a week and has easily settled into her new foster home and routine.

Shiloh met our two resident dogs and visiting ex-foster dog without an issue. She has shown no signs of resource guarding with toys or food.  Shiloh especially enjoys her twice daily walks with her new pack and all of the interesting things they see and smell along the way.

Shiloh’s favorite thing is to play fetch either on land or in the lake. She is a great receiver, but not always a great retriever. Sometimes she likes to play a little “keep away” before returning her tennis ball but she’s learning if she wants us to throw it again she needs to give it back first.

Shiloh has been friendly to everyone she’s met and is non-reactive to dogs she sees on her walks. She gets a little excited when we first get home but settles quickly. We haven’t introduced her to small children yet, we’ll try to do that soon. She sleeps quietly in a crate in our room at night, and is crated when we’re not home.

We do not have a fence and we’re not sure about her recall yet so always have Shiloh leashed or supervised on a tie-out. She loves the car and was a great passenger on a four hour car ride.

Foster dad did a little home maintenance project and the noise of the skill saw and vacuuming up the mess afterwards did not bother her at all. She has proven to be a counter-surfer and a trash can explorer so we keep our counters clean and the trash cans tucked away.

Shiloh was brought up to date on her vaccinations at her wellness exam. The vet said Shiloh is a little chunky at 63# so we’ll cut back on her food a bit and make sure she gets lots of exercise. She has a rather severe ear infection so she’s getting daily ear cleanings and drops which she tolerates without complaint.

Shiloh was diagnosed with Masticatory Muscle Myositis (MMM). MMM is an immune disorder that affects the muscles used for chewing. Shiloh is not exhibiting any pain or problems opening her mouth, but her head is misshapen due to loss of muscle mass. She is being treated with prednisone and we are optimistic this will help her regain muscle mass.

Shiloh is one of the easiest dogs we’ve fostered. She’s happy, friendly, gets along with everyone, and is goofy enough to make us laugh every day. She gets along great with other dogs, has lived with cats, but humans are her absolute favorite so would be fine being the only pet. She’s a smart girl who wants to please, we’d like to see her adopters commit to attending at least one obedience class with her.
