Let's welcome Lucky to RAGOM! Lucky is an 8-year-old purebred Golden Retriever who came into RAGOM through no fault of his own. He is such a sweet, gentle, well-trained dog. Since he showed up, he's enlightened me with a love of his music--straight from the 80s.

Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles

It's a good morning when you wake up with Lucky around! He has the most energy in the morning. After a good night's rest, sleeping either at the foot of the bed or on his own dog bed, Lucky always wakes up with his tail high and wagging, ready to get a jump on the day. Although sometimes Lucky looks sad, he cheers up easily with some positive encouragement. 

Hungry Eyes - Eric Carmen

After a quick potty break outside on a leash, Lucky is ready to eat. His routine is to eat twice a day, which is the same time that we give his hypothyroidism medication. He takes the pill mixed in with his food. Lucky eats pretty quickly and is often known to give out a few burps afterward.

Lucky is also a fan of any treats, bones, and peanut butter in his Kong. If food is left out on the counter and you don't keep a close eye on Lucky, he will try (and sometimes successfully!) getting the food.

The only other things Lucky has a craving for are socks. He will steal socks out of the dirty laundry, and even eat them if he is left alone long enough. If you keep the laundry out of reach, this is not an issue.

Lucky also loves all of his stuffed animals. He does not chew these, but loves to carry them around the house and cuddle up with them when it is bedtime.

Lucky loves walks! He is by far happiest outside. He gets quite the pep in his step and loves to roll around in the snow. Lucky was trained very well to always walk on your left side. He does not pull at all while on a leash.

We've been taking him for one walk a day, and that seems to fit his energy level. He is a very good boy during walks. He doesn't pull to greet other people, nor does he care to meet other dogs.

You Can't Hurry Love - The Supremes

Lucky is timid when meeting new people. He will not run to the door to greet them, but is the sweetest dog when they come up to pet him. Everyone who meets Lucky loves him. Although he is shy, he eventually warms up and welcomes any head scratches or belly rubs. I've never seen any defensiveness or resource guarding, nor have I ever heard Lucky bark. He is a very quiet, kind, and calm dog.

9 to 5 - Dolly Parton

When we are home, Lucky has free roam of the house. He enjoys being in the same room as you are and will follow as I move about the house. When I am at work or away from the house, Lucky is kenneled. He gets into his kennel very easily, and I usually put in a few stuffed animals to keep him company. The longest I have left him kenneled is five hours, and he has had no accidents.

Lucky can't wait to find his forever home. He is the sweetest, most lovable pup. He deserves all the treats, belly rubs, and love that the Golden life can offer.
