Beau arrived at his forever home on March 18, and he has been doing great. His forever mom reported the next morning that he was doing very good. This morning she reported that Beau and George (her 2-year-old) became buddies: "It's a mutual obsession around here between George and Beau."

Hello everyone, here is the handsome Beau saying Happy Chinese New Year to you. It is the year of the rat. Foster mom has been preparing food and decorating her house with some fancy stuff. So, we had two big holidays to celebrate: Christmas and Chinese New Year. Yay, it means more treats.
It has been snowing—I love the fluffy powder so much. I love the cold breeze, too, during my short potty break. I always dig my nose into the snow pile looking for a lost tennis ball. It’s so much fun rolling in the snow!
I have my bandages changed on a weekly basis. I guess I am used to that thing now. Last week I got a brand-new bandage full of cute sheep, and when the vet brought me out, Foster Mom started laughing and taking pictures of me. Well, it was a bit embarrassing, but I forgive her. She simply does not have sense what a fashion is.
I still spend most of my day in the crate due to activity restrictions, but I can walk a little bit before and after a meal (indoors of course) and play with a chewy toy with my foster brother for few minutes.
During the night, I sleep in a dog bed next to my foster mom's bed. I have not had any incidents for the past month, and I was very good at car riding, too. Foster Mom has been very impressed, considering I am only a 10-month-old puppy.
I had my first post-surgical evaluation done yesterday and the X-ray revealed my broken bone has been healing properly. Everything looks good at this point. I will wear my bandages for another two weeks and then have a second post-surgical evaluation in late February. Paws crossed for a speedy and successful recovery.
Now it is nap time—stay warm and stay tuned!

Hi, this is Beau, writing my initial update with my paw wrapped in a bandage. Yup, a bandage due to a broken femur.
I was found with this injury on the Red Lake Reservation in northern Minnesota. I had surgery two weeks ago, and Dr. J believes I will be a normal pup in 8 – 10 weeks. That is why I am not available for adoption currently, but that shouldn’t stop me from saying “Hello” to my admirers.
Look at my adorable face—can you tell I am only 10 months old? Foster Mom said I was the most adorable pup she ever had. Well, I bet she said the same to all her pups, but if someone keeps saying something ten times a day, it must be true! For that sake, I trust her judgment about the cuteness competition.
Yup, my paw and my leg are still wrapped with a bandage, so I am not allowed to run or jump. You know that is so cruel for a puppy; life is so boring without running and playing. But Foster Mom always tells me I am such a good boy, so I want to behave. I do not want to make her feel bad. She takes me out a few times a day so I can enjoy the snow and fresh, cold breeze.
My foster brother is a big guy with a big heart. He knows I am handicapped (temporarily), so he always lets me take his spot and he shares his toys and treats. I enjoy the moments when Foster Mom rubs my face and scratches my belly. Being loved is such a great feeling. It eases my pain and helps me settle in.
When I am ready to look for my forever home, another dog isn’t required, but that sure would be nice. I also get along with cats. Because I’m still recovering from my surgery, I haven’t been tested with children yet. And because I'm such a young pup with lots of energy, I will need a yard with a physical fence to keep me safe.
It is not easy to type with a fat paw, so I will keep this initial post short. When I feel better, I will update you with my progress. Stay tuned!
