Alex, now known as Angus, was adopted by a wonderful family and will have a Doodle brother, Vern, to play with as well as an older Golden sister to keep watch over him. He’ll enjoy running and playing in the yard and going to the lake place in the summer. Congratulations to the W family and to Alex on this great adoption.

Welcome Alex, a 22-month-old Labradoodle who was surrendered by a breeder to the Animal Humane Society in Sioux Falls.
Alex has been with me for a little over a week and has gotten so much more confident. He and my Bella and foster Jessa get along well. He doesn't interact a lot with them yet, but does take cues from Bella as to what is going on. He did have the opportunity to run in a fenced yard yesterday with other dogs and actually was quite playful.
When Alex came to me, he was pretty timid and scared, but he was welcoming of any pets he might get and followed me everywhere. He still does follow me, but not as much.
He seems to have some separation anxiety. When I leave, he is right at the window watching, but does settle as I have found upon return that he is quiet and just waiting. I think this is getting better as he realizes I will return. His life, such as it was, has pretty much been turned upside down, and he's trying to adjust.
Alex has been to the vet and is healthy. His ears were quite a mess when he first came to me, but with regular cleaning and medication, they are clearing up.
Alex is a big mellow guy. He walks well on a leash and is just interested in being out and sniffing. We haven't gotten to the point of trying any training as he still startles pretty easily.
Alex would probably do best in a home with older children just because of his size. He does require another confident dog in the home, having come from a breeding situation. A fenced yard would be nice, but not a necessity if enough physical exercise and mental stimulation can be provided.
