Profile

Sweet, handsome Eli was surrendered to RAGOM because he needs a new home without young children. He should be fine with kids who are older than 10 and respectful of his space. Eli gets along with other dogs and cats, but he doesn't play with them and can be an only baby. A physical fence is required as he tends to wander. Eli's forever family must commit to helping him to lose weight, be able to provide lots and lots of pets, and not mind his alert barking.

This handsome guy went off to his new home this morning! He has been a delightful houseguest and could so easily have ended up staying here for a really long time.

He's got a new home with a mom who loves to have a dog to walk with and has been wanting to add a dog to her household. They have a yard full of tennis balls and live close to the lakes, so he'll get lots of fun and interesting walks.

Eli is a delightful guy, and we were thrilled to have him here. We're also thrilled that he found a great home!

Eli continues to do well. He’s really settled in here and his personality continues to come out. He’s really a happy boy!

He loves going on walks. Yesterday, I got bold and instead of walking the dogs in shifts, I dared to walk all three at once. That’s 270 lbs of Golden Retriever!

They actually did really well. Eli would walk longer than I do; he just loves to explore.

He’s playing with toys around the house, which is adorable. I think he’s lost some weight, and last weekend he got a bath, so he’s looking good!

His one quirk is his barking; he’s an excellent guard dog, but also on walks, if he sees a dog, the barkfest begins. He’s not aggressive with dogs, that I have witnessed, but he has a lot to say. In the fenced yard here, he also is very vocal when any dog walks by.

He’s doing just fine with the resident dogs and cat, and like he is right now, he just wants to be near you (he’s sleeping on my foot!) and he is a persistent “nudger” when he wants pets. He’s such a sweet boy!

Eli loves the whole idea of quarantine because someone can pet him all day long! He's such a good dog! He's learned that "upstairs!" at bedtime means there is a treat to be had, so he rushes up the stairs as fast as he can--and he's got it down better than the resident dogs!

He loves, loves, loves going for walks. He's a bit of a puller on the leash, so the Easy Walk harness is a plus--he likes that better than the Gentle Leader.

He's great to walk with, but the other day, we did encounter another dog on leash coming across our path, and there was some barking. No aggression, but just an alert: "Omigawd, there's a dawg!" So, I learned that about him. Other than that, it's a joy to take him out.

In the yard, he also lets out an alert if someone approaches, or if the neighbor and their dog come home. This morning, the city was doing some work on the water system, and I was informed promptly. Other than that, he's super mellow.

He just loves to lie on the floor next to me, or my feet, when I am working or reading. At night, he sleeps right next to the bed. One of my absolute favorite things is that he's a snorer! So, as I am going to sleep, or if I wake up in the middle of the night, there's just something so sweet and calming about hearing his little snores.

He's really a pretty happy boy and one of the easiest fosters I've had. He may be meeting a potential adopter this weekend, so that's an excellent thing to look forward to!

Eli is doing great! He’s such an easy dog! He’s doing fine with his foster brothers; he’s got the hang of the household routine; and he’s learned the “go upstairs” command — he heads right for the stairs and goes up, knowing he’ll get his bedtime treat!

He loves his walks, hanging out in the yard (especially if I am out there with him), and, more than anything, pets and getting talked to. Today he got a treat: he got to clean out the peanut butter jar! He loved that. He thinks quarantine is an excellent idea because that means someone is around all the time!

Eli has been here for about three weeks and he's just a sweetheart. He has gotten very comfortable here, gets along fine with the resident dogs and cat, and is really a great dog.

He loves to plop down by my feet if I am reading, watching TV, or whatever. He sleeps right next to the bed and follows me wherever I go. He loves his human!

For the first week or so that he was here, I would baby-gate him in the big bathroom, but when I realized that he's a really good boy and doesn't get into things, and is housebroken, he's had free roam of the house. Even when left alone, he doesn't get into trouble, unlike my naughty residents!

He loves toys, and even more loves to destuff toys! He also loves going for a walk. He's a bit of a puller on a leash, so we're going to try the Gentle Leader, which should help because this guy is strong!

When I leave the dogs out in the yard, Eli tends to perch on the steps, keeping an eye on things. He is an excellent guard dog, with his enormous bark. If someone approaches the house, he lets you know; of course, once they come in the gate, he's a big puppy dog.

Eli would love a home with people who have tons of love to spare and can walk him regularly to give him the exercise he needs so that he doesn't run into trouble related to carrying the extra weight. While he is huge, and definitely needs to lose a few pounds, the vet said that he is also just a big dog--it's not that he's grossly overweight.

He would love a yard to hang out in, although he sticks close to the house and likes to be near his people. A fence would be a good idea, because at his last home, he would wander on occasion. He needs a home that doesn't have small kids (10 or older are fine); another dog and/or cat is fine.

If you're interested in meeting this handsome, sweet guy, let us know!

Eli is doing great! He’s such a good dog! He has really settled in here, is barking less (although he’s an excellent watch dog and definitely lets you know if someone or something is approaching!), and has blended in with the fur siblings.

He’s doing great with the other dogs and the cat. He’s not practicing proper social distancing, as evidenced by the photo where he and Dodger are side by side. He’s kind of an adorable snoring machine when he sleeps.

He loves toys!

He’s had free roam of the house for the past week and had caused no mischief. He is totally housebroken, knows some commands, and is very responsive. He’s a pretty happy boy, wagging his tail whenever you say his name. I can see why it was hard for his owners to give him up. He’s really sweet, but he just got nervous around little kids.

He had his vet visit and other than excess poundage, he was in good shape. If you want to meet him, let us know! He’s an excellent dog!

Eli is a big, red, handsome boy with a big bark! He is an excellent guard dog, and when someone approaches the house, he lets you know!

Despite his loud bark, he's super sweet. He loves, loves, loves pets and uses the Golden nudge to get them from you. He takes his treats nicely, eats very nicely, and is very obedient: he can sit, comes when called, knows when he is being scolded (lovingly), and is housebroken. He loves toys.

Eli was surrendered because he was too rambunctious around the small grandchildren in his previous home, sometimes knocking them over. He also would be uncomfortable when they tried to hug him. Therefore, he needs a home with children over 10 years old, if any, and they must be supervised and taught to interact with him appropriately.

At 106 pounds, Eli needs to drop some weight. He can be a little barky; the surrendering family said that he would bark at the vet, or when he went to boarding, and that he does! When we went to the vet for his wellness check, he announced his arrival so the whole vet clinic could hear him. When he arrived here, he barked quite a bit at the two resident dogs, but that has all but stopped.

He doesn't play with the resident dogs, but there has been no aggression at all. He is interested in the cat, but it hasn't been a problem; apparently, he lived with a cat previously. He would probably like to be an only dog, but he has done just fine with his fur siblings here.

Eli is a totally sweet, gorgeous guy who will make a great pet for somebody!
