Updates
Allie was adopted this evening by a wonderful, retired couple who are already in love with her. She will have no wants of any kind. We are so very happy for her but will miss her very much, as she has been with us for nearly three months. Godspeed, Allie!
It’s ME, Allie.
I have wonderful news to share with you! The lump near my mammary gland was removed and is benign—no sign of cancer and everything was successfully removed by my amazing surgeon! My foster mom and dad are over the moon—and so am I.
Other good news… my mouth is healing nicely. I just get a little mouthwash twice a day. It actually tastes good and, as an added bonus, makes my breath smell super sweet. No Altoids or TicTacs necessary for this kid. Can you smell my breath?
A really nice RAGOM lady came over a couple of days ago to help my foster mom adjust a new halter so I can walk without pulling so much. I still wear the Gentle Leader with it and things are much better—except for the frigid weather we are getting. I guess some weather guy says next week will be better for walking your dog. That’s me!
My foster mom and dad carved out a HUGE Halloween pumpkin. There’s a big hole in the front where we can put the treats. Because of Covid, we can’t open the door on Halloween, so we’re putting the pumpkin outside by our lit-up Casper the Ghost. It won’t take long before those little munchkins will find what they’re looking for!
Foster Mom is starting to teach me new tricks. The one I like best is “High Five.” I learned really fast, especially since I get a special treat every time I do it!

Allie finally had her surgery – the removal of three broken teeth and a mass near one of her mammary glands. So much to deal with in her young life!
The situation now with her teeth is that she can only have soft things – treats, toys and food – to aid in the healing process. She will be re-checked this coming Wednesday, Oct. 21.
The mass was removed and sent out for a biopsy. Results are slow coming in due to the coronavirus, but we should know something in another week.
Meanwhile, Allie is wearing a hood to keep her from scratching her incision. She longs to be free and spends many minutes wondering how long she has to wear this strange apparatus!
Allie loves to watch football. She even has her own jersey! Sometimes the game gets very intense, but much of the time she just ignores it. These pictures were taken before the hood was added to her wardrobe.

Foster Mom here:
Allie has made great progress over the last few weeks. She is doing so well on the Gentle Leader when walking. We’re very proud of her as she marches down the street – until a squirrel interrupts the progress! Takes a firm hand, but she finally gets it.
Sasha and Allie are still in a little bit of competition for our attention. Witness this exchange when I found Allie laying on our bed (not allowed for Sasha). I was telling Allie to get off the bed when Sasha came up to me to let me know I should remove her! Eventually, that did happen, much to Sasha’s approval!!
Normally, Sasha and Allie get along fine, until one of them takes the other’s toy. No one argues, but it’s clear there is one winner and one loser!
Allie now has free roam and sleeps in our room at night, instead of her kennel. When it’s time to sleep, Sasha jumps on her dog bed before Allie can get to it, but eventually gives it up and sleeps by my side of the bed, allowing Allie to take the coveted pet bed until morning.
Allie is still up for her surgery in October. You wouldn’t know there is anything wrong, as she is such a trooper about everything. She loves attention (what Golden doesn’t) and follows us all around the house – wanting to be where we are.
She is very playful, more than Sasha, but continues to tease Sasha into playing with her. I hope her furever home has another dog, because she would love to have a playmate.
So, here we are again with more news!
First off, I’m housebroken—can you believe it?! I had a rough start and a little diarrhea problem, but my foster mom is a great cook and with a new diet of hamburger and rice we made it through. Now, I’m totally on a new “Limited Ingredient” kibble, which I love!
I forgot to tell you last time that I had to be quarantined for 10 days at my foster home. Everything had to be sanitized and we all walked around the yard a lot. But… that’s all done now. It’s over. One last sanitation of everything with bleach and I’m good to go!
Sasha and I are becoming friends—well, sort of. I play with her toys, eat her treats, drink out of her water bowl, and jump up onto her favorite spot on the couch to watch TV. Sasha is really good at fetching balls; I don’t know how to do that. Maybe she’ll teach me?! We always go on walks together, and people smile at us (under their masks) when we go by.
Now, I have free roam of the house—if I want it. My kennel is still up, but now the door is always open. Sometimes, I just need a space of my own. If I look sad, it’s because I’m still waiting for my furever home.
One last thing: It might be awhile before I can come to live with you. I’m having surgery next month to remove two broken teeth and a lump near one of my mammary glands. Don’t worry. I’ll be better before you know it and ready to come be with you and my new family furever and ever.

Hi folks—it’s me, Allie!
I came to RAGOM from China by way of a 17-hour ride on a cargo plane from Shanghai, was driven by car to a RAGOM friend's home in Chicago, and then after an unexpected two-night stay, took off by private plane for the final leg of my international odyssey and landed at the Anoka County airport in Blaine, Minnesota!
Take a look at this video of my arrival. As you can see, I was overjoyed to finally be off a moving transport vehicle after my very long journey.
I know my name and most of the time, I come when I’m called. I can’t speak English yet, but I’m learning slowly. I know where my safe places are and I’m learning how to relax more. My whole house feels safe now.
I’m housetrained, but my very first night was a little rough. I had an accident in my crate. I also had a little diarrhea but everything is getting better now. Foster Mom cooked up some ground beef and rice and boy was it tasty! Today, she’s mixing in some new kibble to start weaning me off that other delicious meal. I’ll let you know how it is next time we talk.
My Foster Dad is great. At night, we sometimes watch T.V. and I’m his lap dog.
Oh, you know what? I have a foster sister! Her name is Sasha and we are best buds. Sasha is 2 years younger, but I’m faster. She’s a therapy dog so she’s mellower than me and lies around a lot. But I can really move quickly and that’s when I sneak away with her toys.
Sometimes we trade toys—works for me! My foster mom says I’m a good girl because she can take things out of my mouth that I shouldn’t have, like the magnet I tried to chew up last night. Oh well, it didn’t taste good anyway.
I’ve also learned how fun morning walks are with my foster mom, dad, and Sasha. Foster Mom uses a Gentle Leader to keep me from pulling, and I now know what a “treat” means!
There’s a fenced-in yard here and I love wandering around in it with Sasha. We often sunbathe on the deck. Check back next week to see that picture—it’s been raining a lot lately! I pretty much have free roam while my foster parents are at home. If you need to be away, I should be in my kennel, but preferably only for a short time.
As for my particulars: I’m 7 years old with a two-toned, golden-colored coat. I’m a lightweight at 54 pounds, medium size. When I was in China, I got all my important shots including a rabies vaccination. They also microchipped and spayed me. No babies for me!
I can live with children of any age, and I also like other dogs. I haven’t been tested yet with a cat. My home will need to have a fenced yard to keep me safe. I have been moved around a lot over my lifetime and would benefit from a family with someone at home for the better part of the day.
I would treasure a family that can walk me at least once a day and give me lots of attention. I love when people talk to me and sometimes, I respond back with my low, indoor voice. I want to be where you are and will find a spot to stay near you while you work or exercise.
Well, that brings me to the end of today’s tale. I’ll be checking in again as I wait for the day we can be together in my new furever home. ‘Til then…
