Star light, star bright,

The first star I see tonight;

I wish I may, I wish I might,

Have the wish I wish tonight.

You dreamed big, you set your sights on the stars, you crossed an ocean, and you did it. Dou Dou, now known officially as Doug has found himself a new human of his very own to call his best friend.

We will miss you Dougie but we know you are going to love your new fenced in yard where you can run without a leash. You will find your mind much more relaxed now that you aren't focused on finding the cats. You have your favorite Nylabone and your stuffie and you're going to be great. You dreamed big and now you made dreams for a wonderful young man come true too.

Welcome to America, Doug.

Dou Dou has been able to get into a routine and is starting to show his true colors. Golden of course. There is nothing more he would like than to be let off of a leash and to run. And run. And run. And then flop around a little. He's quite the ham.

Dou Dou is fixated on cats, cars in a distance (but not ones passing nearby), and newly added to the list is garbage trucks. If he can't (and he can not) have a cat, car on the horizon, or garbage truck, then he finds there is nothing better than his nylabone... or anything else made of hard plastic, such as his food scoop, food bowl, or anything with plastic handles.

Some things he does not care about are gun shots, thunder, howling coyotes, or sirens.

He has many talents. Not only can he focus on the above things, but he can wrap himself up like a pretzel. He must be one of the most flexible dogs around. He can also jump (bounce) straight up off the ground simultaneously with all four feet like a deer when he's excited.

We walked down to the lake and Dou Dou took right to the water. His legs are so long and he needs to stay on a long leash so he wasn't able to get out quite far enough to get a real swim in, but it appears he would very much enjoy it.

Speaking of walking on a leash he does very well 85% of the time, pretty good 10% of the time and just horrible 5% of the time. Usually the 5% involves a cat or something on the horizon.

Dou Dou gets along with our resident dog just fine. She is not a team player and is older so they don't roughhouse.

He's not sure what to think of the very large Golden Retriever from next door. The neighbor dog is a brute and Dou Dou will get defensive if he comes running over. However, they get along fine on walks.

For a puppy in a dog's body, Dou Dou is some kind of wonderful that is still trying to figure life out a little bit. Continue to follow his journey as he continues to look for his perfect person(s).

Welcome to America Dou Dou.  With a quick Google search we found his name translates to "All All" and is pronounced as Dew Dew in Chinese.  We've been calling him Doe Doe and sometimes Doug.

He is a sweetheart when it comes to taking treats out of your hand and is very food motivated when learning new things. He is slowly learning how to sit and wait and is working on his recall as well.

He walks fairly well on a leash but will pull when he feels motivated to do so. Dou Dou is not only learning a new language, but there is a good chance he was never asked to do anything in his previous language. A training commitment with Dou Dou is a must for him.

Dou Dou cannot live with cats or small dogs and should not live with outdoor neighbor cats either. He is obsessed with them and it's not good for his mind or the safety of the cat(s). In fact, the one word he immediately picked up on was "kitty".

He currently spends the nights in our bedroom and when we are away, the finished lower level of our house with our resident dog. He prefers to be with people rather than separated but does settle in and rests peacefully if separated. He does have free roam of the house when we are home and will whine at the door if he needs to go out.

Dou Dou currently goes for 3-4 walks per day. One is a two(+) mile walk and the others are a little shorter. He is building up muscle and stamina and is working on his mind stimulation during one on one play time with his squeakies and stuffies.  He is still learning to play and fetch isn't his game quite yet.

This young guy will snuggle in with you if you are hanging out with him on the floor and he'll lay near you if you are hanging out on the couch or dining room table, but he's not clingy. He enjoys watching out the patio door or windows and is content just laying around outside with you. He greets you with bounces and tail wags and sometimes goober.

This two year old guy is just a puppy in a very stunning dog's body. He has some filling out to do physically and some growing up to do mentally and in the right hands he is going to make someone's home feel very complete.
