Zoey is joining the perfect family for her!
After learning more about her it became clear that she needed another young energetic dog to adequately burn off enough energy to keep her from finding mischief. After Zoey and her foster brother wrestled and played in the yard for at least half the day, her foster family had no issues with her chewing inappropriate things, counter surfing, or other behaviors.
She is going to a family with another young dog that Zoey fell in love with when they met. She will have a large, fenced backyard to play in and very active parents to help her live out her best Golden life!

Zoey continues to be such a fast learner! She had her first walks this week without her Gentle Leader and is doing great at not pulling.
In true puppy fashion, she plays herself to exhaustion and then is the cutest snuggler. She loves to curl herself up in a little ball touching you. She wants to be wherever her humans are and preferably getting belly scratches.
She had her first bath and did great, no issues with grooming as she loves the brush.
We have updated her requirements so families who do not have a dog are able to apply. If there is not another playful dog in the home it will be important that she get several walks and dog play dates to burn up her energy.

Zoey is a 13-month-old purebred Golden Retriever and full of energy. She is on the smaller side of Goldens, and as of her most recent vet checkup weighs 52 pounds! She has typical puppy behaviors and when her energy is not worn off during the day the way it should be, she will find inappropriate things to chew and attempt counter surfing.
We have only had Zoey a few short weeks but she has learned basic commands so fast. She knows sit, stay, lay, come, and off but still needs high-value treats to make it worth her while. She is extremely loving and cuddly when she is ready for her naps or bedtime and would prefer to sleep in the bed with her humans if allowed. But she is learning the dog bed is actually quite nice.
She cannot be left unsupervised but when you need to leave, she does great in her kennel with a toy to occupy her time. The maximum time we have left her was 6 hours once. Walking on a leash is new to Zoey but she has made great strides with the Gentle Leader and no longer pulls or tugs. However, she has tried to take it off a couple of times.
Zoey has been such a joy to foster and will make a great addition to her forever family! We are recommending puppy training to help her reach her full Golden potential.
We also are requiring she have a physically fenced-in yard that is escape proof—if there is a hole, she will find it! She will also require another active, playful dog in her forever home.
