Profile

Macy came to RAGOM because her loving family had a lifestyle change and wanted the best for her. A quintessential Golden, Macy gets along with everyone - other dogs, cats, and people (children should be 8+). She has always had canine pals and would benefit from having a playmate. Despite her age, Macy is energetic and will need regular exercise. A physical fence is required for her safety, as she loves to run, play fetch, and chase critters, and also because she is afraid of loud noises.

I'm so happy to announce that Macy 21-003 has found her forever family, where she will be loved and pampered by parents who work from home. In addition to her parents, she will have a younger Golden sister to play with, and an adorable cat that likes to snuggle with the dogs.

Macy has settled into her foster home so well, it’s as if she were always part of our lives. The first week or two, Macy would follow Foster Mom through the house. Now, she likes to know where Foster Mom is, but will pick various rooms and spots to lay. Sometimes, she lays in the sitting room, on a small leather couch, sometimes a soft dog bed, occasionally on a rug, but mostly she likes to lie on the hardwood floor.

A few weeks ago, Macy had her teeth cleaned and a few broken teeth removed, as the nerves were exposed and causing her pain. She was on an antibiotic afterwards and is feeling so much better now, and more energetic. For a 10-and-a-half-year-old girl, Macy has a fair amount of energy and loves to run in the fenced backyard and go for long walks.

When Macy went to the groomer's last week, they said that Macy knew just what to do, willingly climbing into the tub, getting onto the grooming table, and lifting her paws without being asked. She was a big hit with the staff, who all wanted to keep her.

What are some of Macy’s favorite things to do? She loves to pull apart stuffed animals. She doesn’t eat the stuffing, but just pulls it and spits it out. She loves the snow and will roll around in it until she is made to come in. Sometimes, she’ll go outside and just lay down in the snow. Silly girl.

Macy likes to play with her new resident puppy, and get the puppy all riled up. Foster Mom had to put the puppy in time-out for a few minutes, as she wouldn’t settle back down. Most of all, Macy loves to play catch. She will retrieve the ball as many times as you want to throw it.

Macy will be an amazing addition to the lucky family that adopts her!

Please welcome Macy 21-003 to RAGOM. Macy is a very sweet, gentle, older, purebred Golden Retriever. She currently shares her foster home with a small, older dog and 4 cats, and she gets along great with all of them.

Macy was tearfully surrendered by her previous owners when they realized that it would not be in Macy’s best interest to move out of state with them, where they would be subjecting this sweet older girl to constant travel. It’s obvious that Macy was very well loved and enjoys spending time with her people and other resident dogs.

This beautiful girl is very healthy and used to going on daily jogs with her previous owners, although she has slowed down some. Currently, she’ll run the first mile, and then walks the remaining 2 miles. It’s important for Macy to get her daily walks as she still has plenty of energy. She also loves to play catch and will retrieve the ball as many times as you want to throw it.

Macy’s forever home will have a fenced-in yard, as she loves to run and do zoomies. Also, loud noises, thunder and fireworks cause her anxiety, and she may run. Another resident dog would be a bonus, as Macy loves to play and enjoys the company of another dog. While she is very gentle with children, it would be best if kids were 8 years and older.
