Profile

Danea came to RAGOM from China through our international outreach. She is a high-energy pup who loves to play hard. Another playful dog would be great, but she can be an only pet as well. Due to her excitability and food motivation, Danea needs a home with older children (8+) and someone who will continue her training. She does not require a physical fence as long as a plan is in place to keep her safe. Danea cannot live with with cats.

Danea, now known as Lari, found her perfect forever home! Lari's new family has experience with rescue dogs and knows it will take time, patience, and love to help Danea settle into her new life in Minnesota.

Lari will have someone home with her most of the day and will enjoy multiple daily walks in her rural neighborhood where she can soak up all of the scents. She will also get to spend most weekends at the family cabin where she can enjoy lake life with her new extended family.

We will miss her puppy antics and constant smile, but know she is in good hands with her new family.

Please welcome beautiful Danea to the RAGOM family! Danea came to us all of the way from China. She is like a lovable 65-pound puppy.

Danea introduced herself to our household in typical puppy fashion. She put her front paws on one end of the kitchen counter and then zoomed herself all the way to the other end looking for food. She then jumped on us looking for attention. In her opinion, a leash was just something used to pull humans around.

The good news is Danea is very intelligent and wants to please her humans. She quickly learned that counter surfing is not allowed. She now runs to the counter and sits politely near the treat jar when she knows she is due a treat. We simply crossed our arms and turned our backs on her when she jumped on us, which almost immediately eliminated her jumping.

Walking on a leash with a flat collar is still a challenge, so we've switched to a harness which has improved walks. She still pulls some in the harness, so we may introduce her to a Gentle Leader. She easily learned "sit" and "down." We are now working on "stay" and "wait." She is a very good student!

Danea met our two resident dogs without a problem. She likes to play, and play hard, with our younger Golden. If she is going to live with another dog, it would be best if her sibling had a similar play style. She would also do well as an only dog getting all of her family's attention.

Danea definitely loves food, so we have been feeding her in her crate, away from the other dogs. Her crate is located in our kitchen, so we also crate her when we're cooking or eating. Fortunately, she doesn't mind her crate and is content to watch us from her safe spot.

We expect Danea will regress back to her puppy-like behaviors when she transitions to her adoptive family home. For this reason, it would be best for Danea to be placed with a home without young children. She is friendly to all, but in her excitement may knock over small children.

Danae is sweet, friendly, intelligent, and so much fun to train.  We cannot believe all she has learned in the short time she’s been with us. With continued love and training, she will make a wonderful companion.
