Toby came to RAGOM from a humane society. He is an energetic pup and will need a family who is committed to providing him with plenty of physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. Toby can live with other dogs and would love to have a buddy to play with, but he has not been tested with cats. Due to his exuberance, any children in Toby's forever home must be 8 years or older and dog-savvy. He does not require a physical fence.

Toby was adopted by the S family and is looking forward to many walks and swims and pet sessions with them. He also gets extended family and is looking forward to a lot of love from this big family he lucked into. We will miss your zest for life, but know that you will spread your energy and love to all you meet.

Please welcome Toby to RAGOM! He is a handsome, young Golden Retriever who came to RAGOM from a humane society.

Toby has been with his foster family for about six weeks and is really learning the ropes! He is a sweet boy, with a lot of youthful energy. He is fully house trained and has only had one accident (which was our fault and was during his first visit to our cabin).

We do have a fenced-in backyard, which Toby enjoys playing in – both with our resident dogs and with balls, sticks, and whatever else he can find. He has done a little bit of digging, but he stops when corrected. He knows the "sit" command and will drop things when told, “Leave it.”

Toby is also crate trained. He eats and sleeps in his kennel and stays there when we are away from home.

Toby is an energetic dog. He needs exercise and mind work. He gets at least two walks a day. Most mornings, he gets a job of finally decommissioning a dog toy or getting a challenging chew. We have too many dog toys, and he is really helping us to downsize our stash of toys by demolishing them.

He does like playing with rope toys as well – either with us or with one of our resident dogs. He does puzzles with treats in them, is obsessed with balls, and loves to play fetch.

We have also done a few decompression walks, and he really enjoys sniffing around in the woods or an open area on a long lead. He is very curious! On weekends, when he is able to roam the backyard for longer periods of time (and our yard is pretty small), it really settles him down if he has time to explore on his own. Then, he is much calmer when he’s in the house.

Toby has a somewhat jaunty or hoppy gait. We’ve had a few vet visits and tests, and as far as we know, this is just Toby. He keeps up with our dogs, but just needs some help getting into the back end of our car (we just lift his back end up). This hasn’t stopped him from jumping up on the couch or trying to counter-surf. Note that we are discouraging this behavior, and Toby complies when asked!

Toby is a really sweet dog – he has a really nice disposition. He loves to be petted and give kisses. And he does want to please his humans. He has traveled well in the car, and we think he would be up for some outdoor adventures. He would make a great addition to the right home, where a family is committed to getting him physical and mental exercise.
