Max 21-086

Max 21-086Max 21-086

Profile

Max made his way to RAGOM after eating clothing and needed surgery to clear an intestinal blockage. Although he likes other dogs in a neutral territory, he isn’t comfortable with other pets in his home, including cats, so he must be an only pet. Children should be at least 13 years old and taught to safely take items away from Max. In general, Max is loving and well behaved, but because he barks at people passing by, his forever home must have a physically fenced yard.

Updates

Max has been busy! He has moved from South Dakota into a boarding facility in Blaine, Minnesota because he does not have a foster home right now. He did awesome with the long transport—meeting and traveling with the many volunteers that helped get him here. He settled quickly into the boarded life routine, learning when he gets fed and when the potty opportunities are.

Max has now recovered from his 3rd surgery after eating inappropriate items. From what I have been told, the inappropriate items all seem to be from a human. Items like pony tail holder, face masks, underwear, and bathroom garbage rather than items like rocks, sticks, or other dog poo. He has an upcoming vet appointment to discuss this behavior, which is called Pica. This article explains it well.

Max is very lucky to have volunteers who break him out of boarding and spend time with him. He gets walks, car rides, belly rubs, and pets. Max is such a smart, happy, gentle dog. He is not a lot of work and not overly needy. He loves to be loved and give love!

Max is fairly well trained. He has a nice sit and down and shake paw. He walks nice on a leash and doesn’t pull. He isn’t a high energy dog so he doesn’t need a lot of exercise, but definitely some nice daily walks will make for a good dog. Max loves to be near his humans and is food motivated, which is nice because it makes it easy to keep training.

Max really needs to be groomed. We can hardly see his eyes! Right now, appointments are a long way out. You will need to stay tuned to see a picture of Max once he gets groomed. In the meantime, enjoy a shaggy dog picture while you dream of Max being your one and only!
