Ben came to us from South Dakota.  We met him at the vet and he received a thorough exam.  He seemed a little frightened, but was full of kisses and very friendly, and didn't mind the vet's poking and prodding.  He had some pretty nasty dreadlocks, so we cut those out.  He was limping on one leg from a pretty nasty sore on his foot.  He received a bunch of shots and tests, and did well.  We took him home and gave him a well deserved bath, and we'll probably give him another bath tonight.  He met our resident golden with no problems.  Ben is a big boy at 76 lbs., he's super friendly, and he'll make a great companion!  He'll need some time to heal his leg and learn how to live in a home, but I'm sure he'll do well.

First off, thanks for Sandra Lynn for sponsoring Ben!  We appreciate all you do for RAGOM!

There's a lot of news since our last updates about Ben.  He got lots of attention at the Petsmart event last weekend.  He loved every bit of it.  He even did his "Hey look at me sit on my hind legs and balance!" routine.  I'm still trying to get a photo of that trick.  He's a big boy, its funny how he can balance.  I think people are surprised at what a handsome boy Ben is.  He has a cute face too.  He met a couple of kids at the event and seemed to enjoy their attention.

Ben is very sweet and follows us mostly everywhere.  He'll put his paw on your lap to let you know he wants to be petted.  He loves attention!  His back paw is almost fully healed and he's walking and running like any playful dog.  Ben was fixed last week, so lately he's been a resting quite a bit.  He is heartworm negative and fecal negative.  He is now microchipped.  He responds to his name well and now is responding to treats.  He even has "sit" down!  Other things we've noticed about Ben is he watches TV and he likes to de-fuzz tennis balls, and play with stuffed animals.

I promise, if you meet Ben, you'll fall in love with him.  It will be hard for us to let this guy go!
