Well, Princess and I made it another week at Foster Dad's house. I have been getting braver each day, according to Foster Dad, and am more likely to hang out outside with the others, as long as Foster Dad is out there, too! I have been observing the others as well and have taken up a bit more sniffing things as we go along on our walks.
When we are in the house, I like to be close to Foster Dad, especially when he is working on his computer; the floor is nice and cool down in that room. I love that he gives me head scritches regularly, though I do get annoyed with Aspen as he tries to steal attention away. I kind of want to snap at him, but Foster Dad will not let me and I listen to him. Aspen and I get along just fine in general. What can I say? I need to be loved.
Foster Dad tells us that starting next week, they are returning to the office and so he will be gone every other day for a while. Not too concerned as I will just take longer naps.
We have gone on a couple of longer walks this weekend so far, and Foster Dad is proud of the way we handled it. Foster Dad says I walk well. I like to keep up with Aspen, so I tend to pull a bit and I like to circle, too. Aspen says this is a favorite game with Foster Dad; I’m not so sure, as it seems to annoy him a bit.
Yesterday was what the boys called an adventure walk. I liked it, especially going through the tall grass. I do not hunt as much as my cousins, but I feel more connected and happier, like this is what I was meant to do.
Princess and I are still looking for our fur-ever home. I like it here, but would prefer somewhere that maybe I was not sharing so much of the human attention, or maybe having another human around who could love me up while the other human loves up Princess. Remember where Princess goes, I go. We are a team!

Hello, friends. They moved us again. Now we (Princess 20-188 and I) are staying in a home with two other resident dogs and a foster dad who needs exercise a couple of times a day.
He has a nicely fenced yard so we can also spend some time romping around the back there. I like to observe a bit more than my bestie Princess. When her new friend Aspen plays too much or Heath barks at some critter, it makes me a bit nervous and I go back into the house, though I am finding it easier all the time to hang with them.
I love our walks around the neighborhood. The first walk we only went about a mile, but when Foster Dad saw we still had energy to burn, he started taking on the normal length walks with his boys. This is where I bond more with Aspen, as we love to lead the pack while Heath and Princess like to stay closer to Foster Dad. Foster Dad loves how excited we all get when it is time to go.
I like the treats we get, too, especially the green ones. Not sure which is my favorite: the green ones or the little salmon squares we get at bedtime.
Foster Dad keeps asking us to sit, but sometimes I have a bit of a stubborn streak and pretend to not know what he wants. Foster Dad laughs because he was told I am not treat-motivated. Hah, I love treats; I just have to trust the person who is giving them to me.
We sleep typically on the main level, but last night we slept on the lower level where it is a little cooler. This morning when we heard Foster Dad moving around, we went all the way upstairs to say hello, and we got lots of pets and praises for coming up to see him.
Looking forward to seeing what the future brings for us.

Buck and best his friend, Princess, are still in boarding. They are doing well together in their double suite. They are a super bonded pair. It is amazing to watch how they constantly check in with each other, politely wait if one falls behind, and give a gentle sniff or touch to just say, "I appreciate you." It is quite evident that they need to stay together.
Buck had an ear infection. He was very cooperative having the boarding staff place his medicine in his ears. Thankfully, his ears look healthy now. Those cute, short ears accentuate his sugar face!
Buck and Princess have regular visitors that they enjoy going on walks with. Buck is usually happy to just hang out and observe; he doesn’t usually get too excited about much except when he is on a walk. Then, he gets a nice spring in his step. He is funny because he would prefer to walk on the street or sidewalk rather than on the grass. However, if you get him near tall grasses, he gets a bit more excited. I think he will learn to love exploring.
Buck and Princess went on an adventure to see what they thought about cats. Good news: they passed with flying colors! Not only did they ignore the two cats, but they preferred to not even go near them.
Buck and Princess recently had hopes for a furever home together. Unfortunately, that home had a dog that did not want another dog at his home. Now that we know that Buck and Princess can be in a home with cats, we hope that will help open more opportunities for this sweet, calm pair.

Buck’s much-needed dental work happened this week. He had his teeth cleaned, an infected tooth removed, and his nails trimmed.
When I went to visit a day later, Buck was still a bit under the weather. He hadn’t eaten anything; he threw up some bile; he was drooling like crazy; and he had a nice, slimy poo. I did manage to get him to eat some diced turkey meat which will hopefully jump-start his GI tract. They have Buck wearing a Thundershirt, thinking it might help him feel better.
Two days after his dental, I can tell Buck is feeling better, and he finally ate! He is still drooling quite a bit, usually on Princess, but she doesn’t mind.
I took Buck and Princess on an adventure to enjoy time in an actual yard. They both did well with meeting and interacting with the resident dog, and all three dogs enjoyed romping around and playing with balls. Buck even happily pranced around the yard. (In the photo below, you can see where they shaved his fur on his front legs.)
Buck and his best friend, Princess, are hoping for a home with a yard to play in. You can tell they had a lot of fun by the smiles on their faces on our car ride back to boarding.

The title of this update is "The Adventures of Buck and Princess: Best Friends for life" (The Buck edition).
Bonded or not bonded; that is a big question. Many people involved in the recent adventures of Buck and Princess have observed that these two dogs are lifelong friends, and I very much concur! It is hard to come by a devoted friend to share one's life with, so RAGOM is trying very hard to find a great furever home for these two furry friends, together!
Currently, Buck and Princess 20-188 are spending time together in a boarding facility, as a foster home for both dogs together is not available right now. Buck and Princess have many visitors who enjoy spending time with them. They get a daily walk and are participating in Canine Academy classes for some one-on-one training time.
Buck is a sweet, big boy. He needs a little time to soak up all this newness in his world. He is a little hesitant and worries, but by taking time to observe, he becomes more comfortable choosing to join the humans and Princess in the new adventures.
Buck loves his humans and seeks out a little pet and scratch. He does fine near other dogs, but would prefer to not play. He would prefer to watch from the sidelines.
Buck recently had a bath, so he is very soft and fluffy. He had a follow-up vet visit, too. He is still having some ear issues and will have medicine for 10 days. It also was determined he should have a full dental. Next week, he will have his teeth cleaned, a bad tooth removed, and a much needed nail trim to put him in tip-top shape.
Speaking of shape, Buck is down to 87 pounds, which is much closer to where he should be! Now, it’s time to firm him up. He likes walks, so this will be fun to do, especially if it is near tall grasses for hunting and sniffing.
Today, our adventures (between raindrops) included a short car ride in which both dogs travelled very well, and they liked going in and out of the car. It also included being fitted in a harness, going on a nice walk, meeting new people, sniffing another dog, getting lots of loves, and watching the comings and goings of the boarding facility.

Happy, Happy Buck. What a hunk of love.
Yes, he is bonded with his beautiful Princess, but how lovely would it be to celebrate Spring by bringing these two into your home! Yes, they are a Golden and a Poodle, but just think how many litters of Goldendoodles they have given to others. It’s their turn for wonderful, love-filled lives.
They have had some playdates with other RAGOM dogs and they loved it!
Buck likes to watch Canine Rescue with us. He also likes looking out the window in the mornings with his girl.
They will bring you joy!

Buck is learning to enjoy the Golden life he deserves. He went to the groomer, and his coat is shiny, silky, and soft. He doesn’t shed very much, and when we brush him, there is hardly any fur in the brush. So, with his Princess, there is very little dog hair in the house!
He likes to sit at my feet every morning while I have my coffee, close enough so I can put my feet under his warm body. He is such a love bug. He waits patiently every morning for us to wake up, and when he hears us rustling, his tail stars thumping and he comes in for a big kiss.
Buck is very patient and allows us to put on his boots in this frigid weather. Boy, does he have big, beautiful paws!

Great news for Buck: he can be in a home with a calm, confident dog. He is very shy, but did well with an introduction to another RAGOM dog. A gentle and slow introduction works for him. He did not display any signs of aggression. He watched Princess do it first! She was great, too.
Buck is walking very nicely on his leash and has started to sniff and mark along the way. The only thing we are still working on is helping him pass idling cars and delivery vans. “You’re OK” works to help him settle.
He is a big love and every morning, he gives his humans little nuggie kisses on our hands, plus lots of licks - his way of saying, "Good morning and I love you!"
This handsome boy will fill your heart with joy. He deserves a wonderful and loving home with his Princess.

Buck settles in each and every day to his new Golden life. He is getting used to the big wide world. He is much calmer on his walks and leads the way confidently for Princess, even though she doesn’t need it. He is also more confident with visitors in our home. Timid at first, but warms up.
Besides “Buckaroo,” we call him “Mr. Handsome” and “Thumper” as his tail is always wagging! After his morning walk, he crashes on his bed or the floor, but when I go upstairs, he’s right there like a duckling.
He loves his tennis balls and likes to pile them up and start all over. He has a new frisbee that he thinks is fun, too.
The vet gave his ears the thumbs up, and now we just clean them a few times a week. He’s down another pound.
Please consider this mellow, sweet boy for your home. He is really a very loving and well-behaved dog. He’ll need to come to you with his lifelong girl, Princess, who is equally as charming.

Hello, Buck fans!
This boy is doing great! He is slowly starting to get used to the Golden Life. He is acting more like a dog on his walks by stopping to sniff. Idling trucks and cars still scare him a bit and humans outside startle him, but it’s a work in progress.
He had his ears rechecked yesterday, and while the infection has improved, he will continue his ear ointment for two more weeks. His weight is stable in spite of increased exercise. The vet would like to get his weight down at least 10 pounds. We’re on it!
The car ride to the vet went well! He actually looked out the windows and sniffed the breeze coming in the window.
He is so loving and gives kisses to his humans and Princess 20-188. He turns around on our walks to give her a kiss. He has also learned “wait” on our walks to give Princess time to sniff and explore.

Welcome Buck!
This beautiful boy is tightly bonded with Princess 20-188, a 48-pound Standard Poodle. They have been together at the same breeder since they were pups and made the journey from Iowa to Minneapolis just over two weeks ago. They will need to be adopted together, as Princess is Buck's role model and he follows her lead in almost everything.
Buck is a 7-year-old, purebred, neutered Golden Retriever. He is sweet, a gentle giant with a beautiful red coat that is soft as silk. He came in at 100 pounds, but is down to 95 pounds. Exercise and good food are top priorities for him.
He is wary of new people, having been in a kennel for most of his 7 years. He is friendly, but needs a slow and quiet introduction.
Buck loves sleeping in his dog bed; he is not destructive and he has free roam of the house. Not one accident since he arrived! He loves to “spoon” with his foster mom and will quietly talk to you. He is a big puddle of love.
He has learned to walk nicely on a leash. He is a little timid on the walk if there are new sounds, but a fire truck with sirens on pulled up alongside him and he was okay. He is strong, though, but does listen to basic commands to wait.
With slow introductions, Princess and Buck can live with other calm dogs. They will also need a calm and quiet home. Children should be at least 13, be calm and quiet, and not have too many visitng friends.
Because both of them have a high prey drive, Buck and Princess cannot live with cats and will require a physical fence, preferably a privacy fence where they can run, play, and explore their new world safely.
