Well Buck and I made it another week at Foster Dad’s (FD) house. I have been playing more each day with cousins Aspen and Heath; even Buck is more likely to hang out outside with us—as long as FD is out there too!

Like Buck, I have been observing the others as well and have taken up a bit more sniffing things as we go along on our walks. When we are in the house, I like to be on one of the beds napping. I love that FD gives me head scritches regularly, though I could do without the kisses on my nose. He is just not my type, but I humor him.

FD tells us that starting next week they are returning to the office and so he will be gone every other day for a while. Not too concerned as I will just take longer naps.

We have gone on a couple of longer walks this weekend so far and FD is proud of the way we handled it. He says I walk well, and I am doing a better job of keeping pace with them. I like to hang back with Heath, so FD has paired us up on one arm and Buck with Aspen, on the other arm.

Yesterday was what the boys called an adventure walk. I liked it, as far as all the new smells and going through the tall grass. But not too much, so FD let us take the arm closer to the path and the boys took the other arm so they could go through the grass.

Still looking for our fur-ever home. I like it here but would prefer somewhere that maybe I was not sharing so much of the attention or maybe having another human around who could love me up while the other human loves up Buck. Remember where Buck goes, I go. We are a team!

Hello friends, they moved us again. Now we (Buck 20-187 and I) are staying in a home with two other resident dogs and a foster dad who needs exercise a couple of times a day.

He has a nicely fenced yard so we can also spend some time romping around the back there. I like to play a bit more than my bestie Buck so my new friend Aspen will try to engage with me regularly. But when we play too much it makes Buck nervous and he goes back into the house, although he is getting better about it.

I love our walks around the neighborhood. The first walk we only went about a mile, but when Foster Dad saw we still had energy to burn he started taking us on the normal length walks with his boys. I admit I am not the fastest walker and I like to stay slightly behind the pack. Foster Dad loves how excited we all get when it is time to go.

I like the treats we get too, especially the green ones. Not sure which is my favorite: those or the little salmon squares we get at bedtime.

Foster Dad keeps asking us to sit. Sometimes I do, sometimes I do not. I am a Poodle—you can’t tell me what to do!

We sleep typically on the main level, but last night we slept on the lower level where it is a little cooler. This morning when we heard Foster Dad moving around, we went all the way upstairs to say hello, and we got lots of pets and praises for coming up to see him.

Looking forward to seeing what the future brings for us.

Princess is doing well with her best friend Buck while staying in a boarding facility. They really are each other’s better half and they do very well together.

The initial thought for this bonded pair was to have another confident dog in the home. We are now finding this is no longer necessary. Princess in particular would enjoy playing with another dog, but she seems just as happy spending time with her Buck.

Princess does like to kick up her heels. She has fun playing a game of fetch. Buck will join in the chase, but Princess is the one to get the ball. Princess has a beautiful Poodle prance. She walks proudly by your side and is a joy to walk.

She loves to be by your side to get some loving, to play together, or to enjoy special treats. This funny girl loves her treats. She likes to learn a few tricks, but she really doesn’t want to “sit.” Maybe that’s a Poodle thing? Maybe that’s beneath a Princess?

Princess and Buck went on an adventure to see what they thought about cats. Good news, they passed with flying colors! Not only did they ignore the two cats, they preferred to not even go near them.

We are hoping now that we know that they can live with cats and that they do not need another dog in the house, that we can find them their very own ‘furever’ home together. This gentle pair is so easy to love, and it feels so wonderful to spend time with them. They truly will be an awesome addition to your family!

Princess did great for her grooming appointment, her very long appointment! When she was finally done, she was ready to kick up her heels and show off her new look.

Princess 20-188

The good part about staying in boarding is that it’s also a store. Princess got to pick out her own prize for being such a good girl.

Princess 20-188

Princess later joined Buck on an adventure to enjoy time in an actual yard. They both did well meeting and interacting with the resident dog, and all three dogs enjoyed romping around and playing with balls. Princess will chase the balls and even bring them back (some of the time).

Princess 20-188

Princess and her best friend, Buck, are hoping for a home with a yard to play in. Being in a yard was so much fun; you can tell by the smiles on their faces during our car ride back to boarding.

The title of this update is “The Adventures of Buck and Princess: Best Friends for Life” (The Princess edition).

Bonded or not bonded; that is a big question. Many people involved in the recent adventures of Buck and Princess have observed that these two dogs are lifelong friends, and I very much concur! It is hard to come by a devoted friend to share one’s life with, so RAGOM is trying very hard to find a great furever home for these two furry friends, together!

Currently, Princess and Buck 20-187 are spending time together in a boarding facility, because as a foster home for both dogs together is not available right now.

Buck and Princess have many visitors who enjoy spending time with them. Buck and Princess get a daily walk and they are participating in Canine Academy classes for some one-on-one training time. And they are very much available for adoption!

During Princess’s training, we realized she doesn’t know “sit.” Sit is a simple thing that becomes so important in many applications. Stay tuned; we will see how she does!

Princess is doing very well. She is calm and sweet, yet playful and happy. She is smart and adjusts quickly. She thrives with love and attention. She likes to explore outdoors but is also happy to just prance by your side.

She looks out for her best friend, Buck. If he lags behind, she waits. If he wants to lead, she lets him. It is amazing to watch their communication, all by body language and they read each other very well.

Princess is currently a bit dingy. It is the wet, dirty month of April and she is due for a grooming. She is scheduled for a Saturday spa day to include a trim, a bath, and a routine ear cleaning (they look great). A full pedicure is in order, too.

Today, our adventures (between raindrops) included a short car ride in which both dogs travelled very well and liked going in and out of the car. It included being fit in a harness, going on a nice walk, meeting new people, sniffing another dog, getting lots of love, and watching the comings and goings of the boarding facility.

Enjoy some pictures and a short video!

Lovely, sweet Princess. What a dear dog.

She enjoyed the new snow this week. I think that’s her favorite weather. She zoomed and leapt around the yard. She also jumped for joy at a recent play date with a RAGOM dog. She was in heaven as Buck is slowly leaning in to play. His tail was going a million miles an hour though.

Princess 20-188

Princess continues to be perfect on walks. She’s learned just to watch or simply ignore squirrels or other dogs. I swear she invented the yoga pose, “down dog.” She does it beautifully. She loves to be brushed and get belly rubs.

HEL-LO gorgeous! Princess went to the “beauty parlor” last week and look how beautiful she is! The other great news is that her ear infection is all cleared up.

Princess 20-188

With the cold weather she gets the zoomies each morning in lieu of her long walk. It’s so fun to watch. When we do take a short walk, she stands patiently while we put on her sweater and “boots.”

Princess is a wonderful companion—sweet and mellow. She would be a great addition to your home with her prince, Buck 20-187!

Princess 20-188 and Buck 20-187

Thursday, February 4, 2021

We’ve learned that Princess can be in a home with another calm dog. She passed her test with flying colors yesterday along with Buck. She was shy but interested. No signs of aggression.

Her ears are healing! Just one more follow-up with the vet on February 9 and she should get the all clear.

She continues to be a great companion and is such an easy dog. She loves her walks and has started to ignore squirrels. She is inquisitive on our walks and has taught her pal Buck to explore more.

Princess is a sweetheart and will give you lots of love. The humans that meet her just love her and her beautiful eyes. Please say you can open your arms and your home to this gentle girl. She is having her “hair done” next week and her ears will be back to their fluffy white state after all the meds.

This lovely, “smart as a whip” girl is doing great. She loves to be outdoors and after a snowfall does her crazy eights or zoomies around the backyard. Buck was blocking her one day and she jumped right over that big guy. She keeps trying to get Buck to play with her but so far, no luck.

Toys keep her entertained inside, too, but like Buck, after her walks she is content to snooze the day away. She’s a good watch dog and will bark at the front door if she hears the mailman or a friend visiting. She is timid at first but in some cases with visitors she’ll greet them right away and look at them with those beautiful and inquiring eyes.

The vet is still treating her ears. After so many years of neglect, they are filled with gunk. She has her second visit this week where they are trying a new med that sits in her ears for seven days. Hopefully she’ll be over the hump soon. She loved her last car ride there and will now jump out of the car on her own. Buck too!

Princess is sweet, mellow, and inquisitive. When she gazes at you it feels like she’s looking into your heart and soul. She’s a wonderful dog and companion. Please bring her into your home along with best pal Buck. They are a really cute pair!

Her majesty Princess is great! What an amazing girl. She is loving life and her buddy Buck. She has new interactive toys to keep her mind stimulated. She loves her Kong, too, and gets every last ounce of peanut butter out, plus Buck’s.

I’ve said it before, but she is an amazing athlete. Now I see her batting the tennis ball like the fancy footwork of a soccer player. I could envision Princess excelling at agility training if her forever-home humans are interested.

She is timid with humans outside but she will smile at them. However, she sees Buck is scared so she goes to stand by his side. She is trying to engage Buck in play and slowly he is attempting to engage with her.

Her ears have improved but like Buck, she’ll be on meds another two weeks. She hasn’t learned yet how to get in and out of the car without being scared but once she is in the car she is just fine.

She is a very gentle soul with the most beautiful eyes. Please do consider bringing her and Buck into your home.

Welcome Princess!

Princess is bonded with Buck 20-187 and they will need to be adopted together. They were surrendered by a breeder in Iowa and have spent their entire lives together. Princess has likely had many of Buck’s puppies. She takes the lead on most things and Buck follows her.

Princess is a Standard Poodle and will be 8 years old in February. She is SO SMART, sweet, and a gorgeous athlete. She runs, hops, and floats when she is in the backyard. It’s beautiful to watch. Sometimes I think I’m watching a hockey player when I see all her swift moves.

She loves tennis balls and will entertain herself with them. Standard Poodles are highly intelligent. They require exercise and mental stimulation with toys that raise their curiosity.

Princess 20-188

Princess will need a physical fence, preferably a privacy fence as she has a high prey drive and the fence will allow her to safely explore her new world. She walks perfectly on a leash but bunnies and squirrels interest her and she will pull to try and chase them. Because of her high prey drive, Princess cannot live with cats.

With slow introductions, Princess and Buck can live with other calm dogs. They will also need a quiet home. Children should be at last 13 and on the calm and quiet side.

Princess is not destructive, loves her dog bed, and has free roam of the house. Not one accident inside.

The only behavior we’re working on is her counter surfing. Not for food necessarily but anything that piques her interest. She is just incredibly curious. One day she pulled the lower ornaments off the Christmas Tree and put them in her dog bed. She then proceeded to pull the tree skirt into her bed.

Princess is a sweetheart, smart, and so well behaved. If your heart and home are open to two loving dogs, please consider this wonderful bonded pair! How fun!
