Buster is a 3 year neutered PB Golden the shade of light honey. His date of birth is 12/26/04. Buster was surrendered to RAGOM along with his fur sister Mattie. The family is moving out of state and is unable to take them with. Buster is a big boy. Long and sleak. His hair has the feeling of silk. His tail has the beautiful feathering we all love about the Goldens.
Buster is a real sweet boy. He loves pets and will roll onto his back just to get the belly scratches he so deserves. He is very obedient with sit and down. He has been to basic obedience training. When he wants to come in from outside he hits the door with his nose. It is very cute! If you don’t come right away he will jump up on the door but we are working on that. He will close the kennel door with his nose to tell you he really does not want to go in there. But when there is food in the kennel he will also open it up again after he closes it. In his former home Buster was crated and was also free to roam the house. Buster is easy going and gets along well with his foster – fur brother (another golden) and fur – sister (American Eskimo). He eats out of his own dish and does not try to steal food from others. He might want the toy or bone that his brother has, so bone treats are given when they are in separate rooms. He loves to play tug with a stick and fetch with the ball. He loves the water. He will immediately go to the pond when let outside both morning and evening. He will spend lots of time chasing or being chased by my resident golden.
When Buster wants to go outside, he lets you know with a small bark. When he is happy his whole body wags, from the tip of his tail to the top of his head. He will also do a little hop. Because of some of these tricks I have noticed, I believe a family that is interested in training, Buster would be the right dog for them.
He does well meeting other dogs and people. He has lived with a cat and a small child. He will jump a baby gate if left unattended. He has jumped a 3ft outside fence. I have found that he likes to be with me. So if I am in the front yard and Buster is in the back he will dig and be relentless to get to me in the front yard. He is getting better about this so it might just be a case of “don’t leave me”. He will bark when the neighbors come out. Mainly when he does not know the neighbors. Once he gets to know them, he is fine.
Buster’s only issue is he is afraid of very loud noises such as fireworks and bad storms. He has received medication for that, at the time a storm is coming on and it has helped. If he is kenneled and kept secure during storms he does ok.
He is physically fit and would make a great jogging partner or swimming partner if you lived on a lake. He is also content to be quiet so he does not have any excessive energy issues.
Buster is ready to find that forever home. He will do great with another resident dog for company.
