 In memory of Lacey, the best dog a family could ask for

 

I would like everyone to meet with Chloe, she is a now retired backyard breeder who came to Ragom with 8 other dogs on Independence week-end. This is the way to start a new life!! Chloe's birthday is 2/20/2004, which would make her 6.5 yrs old and she weighs in at 62.7 lbs; I was completely amazed how social she was!! She LOVES people, tail wagging all the time and please pet me now look, she even does the paw on the arm thing if your thinking of trying to quit petting her. She is still unsure of the car thing but this is getting better every trip, she enjoys the ride but the jumping in thing spooks her. She has no issues with linoleum or wood floors, she goes in and out of doors just fine and stairs are mastered too.

The first night in her new foster home, the TV frightened her; she had no idea what that sound was and where was it coming from. She will bark at dogs on the TV and if puppies are whining she will listen to them and tip her head as if where are they. The vacuum she does not like but will go hide in the kitchen under the table (safe spot).

Chloe seems to be housebroken, as she has had no accidents so far; when she needs to go out she starts a nervous panting. She has had free roam of this house from day one and no accidents.

Chloe has fallen into the routine here really well, but she still does not like to eat real regularly. We give her alittle can food in with her kibble twice a day, and she eats the can food and always leaves some kibble in the bowl everytime.

Her vet check came in with a clean bill of health and she was spayed on Tues, July 13. My vet keeps all dogs overnight after spaying, but I get a call the next morning from the vet asking me what time was I thinking of picking her up as she opened her incision during the night. They needed to put her back under and close her back up again. Last words the vet stated to me were make sure she wears her "E-cone" at all times she is left unattended. She goes back in on Thurs, July 29 for stitch removal and she has been good about not touching her incision since.

Chloe's future home should have the following:

Another confident resident dag.
No small children under 8 years old
Physical fence would be ideal, as she does not potty on the leach.

Chloe was adopted last night! We said our goodbye's and then they whisked her away to her forever home. You could tell she knew a change was coming for her. She was trusting her FM and her new mom that it was a good thing and she was ready!

Her new dad was unable to come with the family to pick her up so her mom drove Chloe's new big sister Ella to the house so she could show Chloe the way to her new home.

I already got word from her new mom that she is being her Chloe self and that is a GREAT thing! What a doll!! See you later Chloe, I know you're going to have a fantastic rest of your life!

It looks to me in the pictures that Chloe (right) and her sister Ella are already in sync!

Chloe is wishing for warmer spring weather soon and hopes her new 'floral' headband will help!

Chloe continues to do so well and really has the groove of the routine here. She's doing stellar during the workday being in the main part of the house with Murphy. I always leave her one of my T-shirts to make her feel better and I always come home to it tucked away in a 'special' spot for safekeeping(?) She's also really liking to have a toy in her mouth and just carries it around so I think that is a good sign and it's a way to make her feel secure. She's also learning that the toys are the appropriate items for her mouth and not shoes or other household items.

Chloe is meeting her potential forever family this Saturday. Fingers crossed for Chloe, bittersweet for FM!

Hi Chloe fans!

First a big THANK YOU to Lacey's family for supporting Chloe with a Spring donation! We so much appreciate your thoughtfulness and caring about our beloved RAGOM pooches.

Chloe continues to do well, she is just the sweetest dog and I love her. She is just the perfect girl!  She gets along with everybody, loves her people, completely housebroken, great recall, fantastic car rider, does not resource guard, in great health, cute as pumpkin pie and is a great snuggler. FM and her friends are quite smitten with her and we all can't believe she has not been snatched up yet.

A review on what Chloe needs in her new home:

1) another confident dog in the home to show her the way (she gets along with all dogs, but mostly just wants to be with YOU!)
2) a fenced in yard for her safety (but she is not interested in running and will stay with you).
3) no children under 8 (although she has been just fine with kids of any age when we have been out).
4) someone who has the time to give her the love and attention she deserves.

Chloe continues to grow and just be the best dog! She is so motivated to do the right thing as all she wants is to be your best friend and for you to love her forever. She just goes with the flow, hangs well with the pack and does what you ask her to do.

Chloe is learning some new commands and is quick to respond to the ones she knows. She came to me knowing “sit”, “come” and “leave it” and will respond instantly. She is learning “down” and “wait”. The “wait” command is for her to wait when I open the car door to leash her first before getting out and also for letting both dogs out the back door. She tends to want to push through to be the first out and in the process will knock into Murphy. She is really doing well on that one. She even on her own will sit when I ask her to "wait". Good girl!

Chloe continues to eat well, sleep well and does great when I am at work. She likes to move a couple of shoes around but otherwise everything is in place. I see her getting less and less ‘busy’ while I am out.

I can’t say enough good things about Chloe and I still am so surprised she has not been scooped up. Some lucky family will discover her and whisk her away no doubt.

Chloe will be at the Quarry PetSmart RAGOM event on 3/19. Come and meet this sweetie pie. You will fall in love.

Hi Chloe fans!

Chloe continues to thrive in my home. She is so motivated to be a good girl and do the right thing and I see her getting more and more settled every day. The pack loves her so much and she just fit right in barely missing a beat. She’s even got FM ‘inviting’ her to lie next to her on the furniture because she is such a snugly girl. Below is a list of things to know about Chloe. Some are repeats and there are new things added here as I’ve gotten to know her.

-she wants to be your best friend forever

-she gets along with everybody she meets, dog or human (cats untested in my care)

-she is given free roam to most of the house with resident dog Murphy when I’m at work or out for a while and is doing well. I do put things away as she may (or may not) chew or shred it. I just don’t give her the opportunity. She does like to move a shoe around every now and again when I am gone, but has not chewed on them. I think she is just looking for things that smell like her FM. I often throw one of my T-shirts on her bed while I'm out as I think it makes her feel better. She is still learning that you will come back for her.

-she respects baby gates

-she is completely housebroken, does her business either in the back yard or when we go on walks

-likes to have a favorite stuffed toy to carry around, it seems to rotate.

-she eats well, loves her kibbles, bananas, beans and salmon

-does not like crunchy treats, but loves chewy treats!

-has a playful side to her and will run with the other dogs in a big yard.

-has great recall and has shown no interest in bolting. She does however require a fenced back yard due to her Puppy Mill background.

-has learned what ‘car ride’ and ‘walk’ means and gets very excited about it.

-she is a great car rider

-would like regular walks and play time

-she is a good ‘hanger’. If you are hanging out, so will she, right by your side.

-needs a home with another confident resident dog for leadership and no children under 8.

-one of her ears is usually inside-out at any given time (so cute)

Chloe had such a busy weekend and it really gave me a chance to get to know her since I've only had her a week. All I can say is oh, my, goodness! She is a gem!

She was so brave and such a trooper in new situations and embraced it with a little nervousness but with enthusiasm.

She attended a RAGOM event on Saturday and even though she has been to many with her previous foster, it was the first time with me and probably to this location. She soaked up the love, put herself out there and impressed everyone who came by to meet and pet her. She was in her glory. After we went there, we went shopping on the way home. First, I must say, she is an excellent car rider and stays in the back seat where she belongs, will look out the window or lay down and relax. I stopped at a store and she waited in the car for almost 20
minutes. She did great, but was very glad to see me. I think she has great potential to be your shopping BFF! As long as she understands you are coming back for her, she is happy. That night, we hung out with the pack and she took it all in stride. They all love her!

Today Chloe and her new pals went to Ollu for a pedicure and then we walked around by the river. Chloe loved and embraced the new experience, she was just so cute, tail up and walked with confidence.

Chloe is almost perfect and I'm mystified why she hasn't been scooped up yet. She is an absolute doll, completely house broken, gets along with all dogs and people she meets and just loves to be by your side. She has great recall and comes immediately when you call her. She is healthy, not on any meds, no ear infections and surprisingly, coming from a puppy mill, her teeth actually look really good AND she is cute as pumpkin pie! What more could you ask for?

Chloe has a new spring collar with pretty pink, red and purple flowers. She thinks this  signifies her new beginning and is so hoping to find her forever home soon and I think she will. Are you her perfect forever home? Until that happens, I am thrilled to have her in
my home.

Chloe is doing just great and loves her people. She aims to please and is eager if she understands what is expected. She is really liking her daily walks and is starting to follow Murphy's lead and I think that is good for her to understand what is around her and give her reassurance.

Chloe came to my house yesterday and is settling in nicely. Today is Chloe’s birthday and she turned 7! Chloe is having a fantastic day hanging with her new pack.

She met my resident dog Murphy and friend’s dogs and there have been no issues. She already seems to understand the ‘bed’ rules according to Murphy, i.e. ‘this is my bed and I want it when I want it!’ She has her own bed in the same room and it has become ‘her spot’.

She is such a sweet love bug, follows me everywhere which I love. She has gone on a couple of walks already and does great. She is still getting used to the new airplane noises overhead but she has been so brave and just perseveres forward with her new FB. She has done her business while both on walks and in the yard. She is very reliable and does her business in the right places.

Chloe just wants to be loved. She is still settling in here, but once she gets her lovin’ she will lay down and relax. I think that will improve even more once she gets more settled, change is always hard and can be scary at first.

She’s eating well with a little moral support from FM. She loves her kibbles and has eaten the green beans, salmon and bananas that I’ve added. After a little trial and error, she ate it up once she investigated it thoroughly!

Chloe is a quiet, gentle soul who just wants to be loved. Since Chloe came from a puppy mill we require that she goes to a home with: 

1)      a confident resident dog for her leadership

2)      a yard with a physical fence

3)      no young children under 8 or so.

She has been known to chase running cats but I don’t want to say she should not go to a home with cats. I don't have a cat but I think it would be worth a test with a non-running cat. I can hardly imagine her hurting a flea.

HI Chloe families, Miss Chloe has not been up to much, we're trying to give her more free roam with restrictions and so far it's been ok.  Small step forward for her separation anxiety.  She spends most of time sleeping on the couch, when I'm home from work or playing with Ali and Missy (FS) outside when the weather is decent.  And they all love going outside with FM in the backyard to do poo duty job. Chloe has met some very wonderful families at the Ragom events in the past few weeks, but they all seem to be missing one quality that is needed to place her with them.  Her qualities are: fenced yard, another dog, no cats, and no small children under the age of 8yrs.  Chloe is really just a love bug, there are not enough hands for pets and love; and that is if you ask Chloe.

So if you think Chloe would fit into your family come meet her on Saturday, January 22 at the PetSmart in Richfield, we will be there from 11am to 2pm. See you in Richfield,
