Izzy 08-040

Profile

Izzy has arrived safe and sound and is now enjoying her new foster home with lots of brothers and sister to romp with. She is a 7 to 9 month old Golden/Terrier mix. She has been vetted and brought up to date on all vaccines. Her blood work, stool, and general physical health is all negative and good.

She had a visit from a wonderful family interested in adopting and it was love at first sight for all concerned. The match was perfect. Izzy will soon be on her way to her forever home as soon as spaying and micro-chipping have been completed on 2/15/08. Another success story for RAGOM volunteers and the O family.

Izzy went to the RAGOM event at the Richfield PetCo yesterday and met many new people. There was a lot going on, lots and lots of great people to visit with. Izzy was on her best behavior and hopes she made a good impression on one of the nice families there. She is crossing her fingers and toes that the right family was there ... well maybe just her paws. She is doing so great in our house and we are sure that she is ready for her forever home.

Izzy is doing really great! Every day the separation anxiety gets a little better. We have been leaving her with free run of the house along with the resident dog for short periods and there has been no problem. She does wiggle and squeak when we return but we just ignore her until she calms down and then she gets attention.

We've spent some time playing in the back yard. Izzy loves to run after a ball. She will bring it back and when told to "drop it" she'll spit it out at your feet for you to throw again. We've tried a Frisbee a couple of times and that doesn't work as well. She has great difficulty picking up a hard Frisbee. Using a soft disk presents too much temptation to rip and tear. We always return to the ball.

When near a lake Izzy isn't interested in swimming or even wading but she'll take any chance to eat a dead fish.

If someone in your family quilts, Izzy will want to be very involved in every project. She hasn't shown any preference to certain colors or patterns but she just can't resist having a "lie down" on any quilt, or part thereof, that is on the floor. She'll even be thrilled to pick up any quilt scraps left lying about (or mistakenly dropped).

Izzy would love a forever home where she can play with another dog and chase balls until the cows come home. She always wants to stay close by so she doesn't need a home with a fenced yard. She just needs a family that would really commit to her because she really doesn't need to be moved again. This is her 5th home through no fault of her own.

Izzy is back in RAGOM's care. We picked up Izzy a week ago and this is what I can tell you about this girl. She is a sweet girl that just loves life. She loves to play with our resident dog and she also loves to lay by my feet, or on top of them. We think she is a Goldendoodle, but because she originally came from the dog pound we don't know for sure. She weighs 55 lb, so she is on the small side for a golden. She will tend to shed less because of the poodle in her. She is a very smart girl. She has some separation anxiety, and some fear of strangers, but we are working on both of these and she is doing remarkably well. She went to the vet and he said she is in great health except for a wound on her side that we had to have stitched up.

She doesn't seem to care much for playing in the water. She will chase a ball until YOU drop of exhaustion. She can run almost as fast as the resident Terrier -- and that means that she is blazingly fast. We would never take a RAGOM foster dog off leash ... but if you did, she wouldn't leave your side.

She rides in the car very nicely. She loves to "de-squeek" any squeeky toy leaving you with clumps of toy "guts" on the floor. But the good part is that it's good bending and stretching exercise to pick it all up. She will "kennel up" for the night as long as the kennel is in the same room where you sleep. She'd prefer not to be alone. She wants to greet you with a toy in her mouth when you get up in the morning or come back from a trip (or from stepping outside to pick up the mail). She is very observant -- she will pick up on your routines within a day or two and gladly follow along thereafter.
